Just 'cause it needs to be put out there...Cobra 25LTD. If I was going to get another one it'd be one with the night time illumination.

Since it's a trail rig, just get a cheap set of steelies for it. I like my Procomp series 97s and they were less than $60 per wheel.

Dude, you really need to get that thing mounted in a less jury rigged fashion. o_O And you need to do the gray wire mod. ;)

Pretty sure we'll be leaving Friday morning. I'm not familiar with the route Frank is talking about, but since I'll be a passenger, I won't have to navigate.

Whatcha think, Frank? If the trip takes us, say, 9 hours, if we shot for being at the park by 3-ish pm, we'd have to leave here around 6am.

one tiny problem with that lol, the 265s are for 16s not 15s like whats on the truck now. If i bought new wheels...i still have the crappy super swampers on lol. Im not driving on those anymore, they are cracked and dry rotted like crazy. cracks everywhere...im surprised they are holding air lol. so i came up with an idea for now that will allow me to use my old TRD Offroad wheels from my tacoma.....wheel spacers.....lol. I think I just need 1.5" and the 16s will clear the steering components they are rubbing on. then my plan is to get some 15x8 steelies with at least 3.75 BS and throw on some 35x12.50r15 boggers and ill end up keeping the spacers to widen the track width for more stability

BTW,Frank, I just need to confirm something. Your 7 pin connector...is it the flat pin type like this...

Or the round pin-type like this...

Because I'm pretty sure the trailer has the round-type connector. If yours it the flat type, I'm going to have to see about getting a flat-type plug to install on it before that Friday.

You could get the steelies in 16x8 and eventually replace the 265s with 35x12.50R16s. Probably be a little more expensive, but I guess it depends on how much less wheel spacers cost, compared to whether you were willing to pay the 16" wheel premium when you get your new tires.

IMHO, you should go all in and get a set of the 16x35R15 Boggers. :D

personally, i want to stick with 15s for the pickup lol. I can get Trail Gear 1.5" spacers for the pickup for $180 for 4. only issue is, im not sure what the minimum back spacing I need for the pickup is, iirc the TRD Offroad wheels have 5.5 BS and a 1.5" spacer brings it down to 4".....but im not sure if thats enough or not

uhhh....no....i already have 15.50 wides on the pickup...they look cool and all...but they arent functional with the current setup lol

4 should be clear but pretty close. if you went with 2in spacers you'd clear for sure. Most first gen pickup guys I know run 2 inch spacers anyway.. since they're axle width is so skinny

How so? I had 2.5" AALs and 2" drop shackles on my '83 and it just barely cleared 33x12.50s on 15x12 wheels. I would think if you're having clearance problems with 33x15.50s you're going to have to increase the lift anyway to clear 35s, so a little extra to clear 16x35s wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

the truck has 0 lift lol, any articulation and the tires are rubbing everything...you can tell where they were rubbing on the back of the frame. plus with all the cracks and dry rot....i dont want to run them period haha. I finally got them to hold air at least...they're just too wide imo lol

Ive never really been a fan of wide tires or wheels, i think a 12.50 or 13.50 would be perfect for what I like; especially those boggers, I really love the tread design on those babies

yeah thats what I was thinking lol, I could steal the 2" spacers my '06 has haha, but then id lose the stance she has right now lol. I guess i could just jump straight to the 2" spacers

Fair enough. I was always of the opinion the wider the better, but that was based on wheeling in the bottomless FL mud, where a wide tire on a light truck would allow you to more or less float across the top rather than dig down to the the frame. Nobody seems to really run a super wide tire for crawling though. I can see where you might get better traction with a narrower tire on the rocks since a smaller contact patch would equate to more pounds per square inch of weight on the tire.

That said, Boggers are absolutely the best tire you can get (outside of agg tires) for the mud and I love them, but I'm a little dubious as to how well they would work for crawling. The design doesn't seem like it would be conducive to a lot of lateral stability to keep you from sliding sideways off obstacles. Could be wrong though. I know @Southern01Taco runs 33x10.50 Boggers on his Taco and he loves them FWIW.

oh yeah, I def know how FL is lol, wide tires are nice for this area haha. ive seen a bunch of people run the boggers their pickups and stuff for wheeling and such. Ill do a little more research into tires, but I think im gonna go with the boggers.

But the truck should HOPEFULLY be done by feb/march time frame now that im just gonna be on the tiny 265s lol. thats of course if I dont get the new wheels and tires before then. new trans will be in, wiring harness in, and front end rebuilt
