I am looking at after market front bumpers... I am looking at these 3 but would be open to others:

    Shrockworks

    ARB

    Or another brand?

    Which one and why?

I like all three. If it was me though, I would go with the All-Pro. I think it is the most aesthetically pleasing and a lot of members on here run that bumper and are pretty happy with it. All three have their pros and cons though.

    Others will chime in. :)

AllPro- looks awesome, but those who really use their trucks off road find it is a tad weak, especially under a bunch of winching.
Shrockworks- would be my choice. But they seem to have a huge lead time and they're the most expensive. Solid bumper and nice clean styling.
ARB- is probably the heaviest. They're supposed to be a really solid bumper, and they cost about the same as AllPro and several hundred less than Shrockworks and can be pruchased from a bunch of retailers. They are however, quite utilitarian in the styling department.

As you see, all have their own strengths and weaknesses. Thats why I built my own. It satisfies all my demands. :)

All-Pro:Looks B.A.!!!! also the cheapest of all 3 and the lightest(this i am 95% sure of but don't quote me:D) maybe not as functional as the other two but still damn good and offers a lot of protection...and did i mention that it looks BAD ASS!!!!

Shrockworks: Also looks damn good, bit heavier, i have personally been to there place and checked one of their bumpers out first hand and they are SOLID!!! you could probably plow through a house with one of those on. a bit priceier than the All-Pro, also have options like just the hoop or added light protector side hoops kinda like the ARB if you want them

ARB: Def the most "trick" of the with built in indicators, anntenna mounts and also the only one that is Airbag Approved. But that also makes it the heaviest Also a bit pricier, around the same as the Shrockworks but i know some people have gotten them for cheaper...like around the 900 dollar range...kinda ugly in my opinion...at lest on 2nd gen tacomas...looks good on land rovers and land cruisers and "some" 1st gen tacomas...but on our truck...def. not very pleasing to the eye but will offer a lot of protection.

Yeah, I am curious about the "airbag approved" deal... Will going with the others screw up how a front end crash might affect how your air bag may go off?

shouldn't. The air bag mechanism in these trucks are activated via inertia.

they might...you can't really say yay or nay for sure without testing it but thats the deal...if it doesn't and its not airbag approved...which only the ARB is, then your SOL if you do wreck and it doesn't go off...

ARB has had extensive testing and stuff to meet approval to get Airbag approved...the others have not...

Yeah, I was thinking the airbags go off by inertia, so it shouldn't matter... Looks like All-Pro is in the lead as a the forum favorite for the night time crowd.

correct...but their is always that slight chance, because they would crumple differently than the stocker, that it might not go off...and since its not "air bag approved" your SOL if that happens...also you want to think about the other vehicle(if there is one)...if you hit them with that sort of a front bumper your most likely gonna get sued/in biiiiig financial sh*t

not trying to scare you, just making sure you think about it before you buy one...

i have been thinking about getting one for months...i am still gonna get one (Shrockworks:D) when i have the money but i had to think about all of these types of things before i decided i would do it

Hadn't completely thought it all out yet... Trying to save up enough money to be able to buy a lot of what I want at one time for my truck's build. I gotta get a hold of Toyota to see if I can get them to cover the TSB for the 3 leaf issue in the back and then decide where to go from there.

Personally I love the ARB bumper. I like the styling of it and I also appropriate all the testing that went into the design of the bumper. I plan on getting one once I have some extra income so I can have some traffic armor to ward off all of the crazy drivers around Tampa.

That fact that the ARB is air bag tested is a big selling point for me. I don't find the styling of it unappealing either.

Air bag tested has nothing to do with it. It doesn't matter if it's the stock or any aftermarket bumper they are not deployed by impact, it is all inertia.

How do you know ARB did the testing? They could just say it's air bag tested...just like All Pro could say they tested it out...

ARB vs a deer at 50 to 60 mph

    http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/general-discussion/72642-arb-bull-bar-vs-deer.html

I'm not saying the All-Pro would have crumbled under this, but the ARB bumpers a built pretty sout.
