Took a ride up to Snoqualmie pass today, Northwest (Washington) So, on a dirt road that was plowed and eventually turned to unplowed 8-10" of wet snow, figured I would keep going. From a stop I took off and made it in about 20-30' and got stuck, backed it out and turned around. I'm driving the 16 DCLB Sport, tires are: Toyo Open Country A30 265/65/17. Would better tires of been a no prob or just to much snow. Sound stupid :) Was driving a 2001 DC OR and it seemed like no problem with that truck, which my son has now, maybe I need to take it back, lol......

It just depends. More aggressive tire could not hurt. What did you have on the 2001? Too many other variables, was it uphill or downhill, was it ice under or dirt, etc, etc. There is no reason why the 2016 shouldn't due as well as the 2001. I bet if you would have tried again you would have made it farther than 20-30'.

More aggressive tires would probably help. The tires that come on the Sport are for better street performance. Like nevadabugle said there are a lot more variables that come into play but it wouldn't hurt looking into some All Terrain tires if you plan on possibly getting into a similar situation later on.

Thanks guys! It was a little incline, and definitely loose wet dirt and snow, probably played a big part. The 2001 just had all season Michelins from Costco ;) definitely a good tire, a set would last forever. That truck for some reason was always good in the snow, when everyone was stuck I was out driving around. Down the road I will give some new tires a shot and see how that goes. Thanks again

Hi Picture This - Tried to find info on the Open Country A30's and Toyo has nothing on their web site. But the pictures would indicate that it is a pavement all season and too slick for mucky off roading here in the Northwest. I just bought a Tacoma DC TRD Off Road with Goodyear Wranglers with Kevlar. Discount Tire took those in on trade at $50 per tire on one of their more aggressive tires such as a BFG KO2 or a Goodyear Dura Trac. I bought Dura Tracs 265/70 16 in load range C with their lifetime hazard/puncture certificate for $774 out the door. Just for info sake. You have a super truck....best wishes...

That is one hell of a nice looking truck. It is making me second guess myself. I want a siliver one but this color in combination with those wheels is awesome

Thanks. I get a lot of compliments on the truck when the sun is out, because that's when the truck comes alive. In overcast weather, it's so-so. I love it though and with the new wheels, it does look a lot better. The UPS guy dropped of some stuff yesterday from TRS related to my HID setup and he yelled from the truck that he loves the color of my Tacoma.

I pretty much have the exact same setup and have said that about the weather on many occasions. When the sun is shining, and the truck is clean, the Inferno color really pops. Overcast skys, even when the truck is clean, dull the color down dramatically. It's almost like it's a completely different color.

Truck looks awesome! Is there a lift or is that just the tires?

100% stock in terms of the suspension. I was going to lift it but decided not to right now since it rides nice on the stock suspension. If I had lifted it, then I probably would have went with one size larger tire.

Once my SOS sliders come in, it should look a bit taller without the Predator side steps.

Notice any slight difference in road noise, ride stiffness or MPGs?
