My dad and I changed the master cylinder on my Tacoma because the brake pedal was "spongy," and wasnt holding pressure. We bled the brakes 3 different times but the pedal is still "spongy" and still not holding pressure. Is this a sequencing problem or is it more serious? We bled from driver front and made a circle. This was our first time changing a master cylinder

Even a hairline leak somewhere in the system could cause spongy pedal.

Try this.... Get underneath the truck and look at all the braking components, including brake lines, etc. Take notice to anything 'wet' or potential signs of leaks. With truck in park and running. Step on the brake pedal AS HARD AS YOU CAN and keep your foot there holding pressure on it.
In a completely closed system, the pedal shouldn't move at all once you've reached full downward position. If the pedal moves even slightly downward while you're holding your foot on it....you have a leak. After doing this 'test' - crawl underneath the truck again and look for signs that new fluid has come out. Don't forget to inspect your rear wheel cylinders too.

Always start at the wheel furthest from the master cylinder and work towards the master cylinder...

    This makes it easy:

    ^This.
Although I doubt it made much difference if this is a constant problem that you're experiencing. I always thought the Tacoma had a weak brake pedal to begin with.
What do you mean when you say it wont hold pressure? Will the pedal eventually hit the floor? Or just that it doesnt grab very well w/ light pressure? Are you losing fluid out of the reservoir? That'd be a pretty big indicator of a much more serious problem.
I put Stainless brake lines on the truck and it did help a little bit w/ pedal feel imo.

Also, check the adjustment of the rear shoes and the front wheel bearings for play if the pedal feel is the same as before the new master cylinder. It may well be a mechanical issue, not a hydraulic issue causing your soft pedal.

X2 - don't know if that is you problem - probably not but I always start at right rear - left rear - right front - left front. You can DIY with the motive - nobody pushing the peddle.

How does a woman become a expert mechanic and a paint ball champion ??
I must rethink my blatant sexism.

Bahahahahaaa....that's funny. OMG...I think I woke up on the wrong side of the gene pool and have been hopelessly lost in the tomboy sector.

Actually...I had an issue with our Jeep after upgrading the Master cylinder and by accident, I took notice that the pedal wouldn't stay still and the 'light bulb' went off that I was probably losing fluid somewhere.

Never played paintball....but used to play airsoft. And then...my husband and I realized we were too old and couldn't keep up with teeny boppers & young kids running around in the woods. Haven't played in probably 5 years. I can mark it off 'the list' LOL

Glad U took it as intended. I'm getting a little senile so 5 years made airsoft into paintball. You and yours enjoy Christmas.
