It is all about being at the right place and actively looking. After I get done with the lift and armor I will probably be looking for an S/C. They went up in price when TRD first discontinued them but with LCE making them hopefully they go back down.

So you're selling your 4Runner and leaving us?. Maybe you've already said...but why are you selling? I see a lot of guys tear down thier masterpiece before selling them...especially superchargers! Why is that??

So are you buying another 3ed gen? Or calling it quits for good? If so, It will be sad to see you go!!

Sadly I have already moved on. The 4Runner was great but I got to a point in my build where it was turning into more of a wheeler than my DD. I couldn't justify going on wheeling trips because if I broke something I would have to try and fix it right away as my 4Runner is my only vehicle. It was going to get expensive and I just don't have the income right now for it.

Also I wanted something bigger I could just drive and not think twice about. I was constantly tinkering with the 4Runner to get it to run right with the suspension and SC. Just got old for me. Also we are expecting #2 so the 4Runner was way too small. I test drove a 1st gen tundra and fell in love. They ride amazing and are so comfortable. My 4Runner feels like a tin can compared to the tundra build. I ended up buying a 06 double cab Tundra and love it. Drove the 4Runner yesterday and I missed the tundra so it really confirmed my decision.

I only parted the sc because it was worth a lot more off the truck. The rest is staying but i did swap back to add hubs to regain abs.

I'm truely sorry to see you go. You were one of the first builds that I read...over on T4R.org. I diffienitly know what you are talking about with the differences in ride and sound beween our 4Runners and nice newer 4x4. I noticed it every time I get into my 06' Chevy 2500HD. Tin can is a good description of our 4Runners w/o sound deadener. Which is why, that will for sure be a mod next summer. But even with its short falls...our 4Runners are a true hoot to drive and even more to 4Wheel!

That said, I completely understand where you are coming from when you have to use it as a DD with two babies?!? Not too sure I would do that either. Well hey, if you end up with extra set of Tundra brakes some how...hook a brother up, and let me know...lol!!! I'll be happy to take them off your hands!!

Hope you stay in contact with us...hate to lose all your knowledge...especially with the S/C'ers!! You've always been one of those guys we could always turn to....when know one else knew the anwsers!!

    Take care my friend!

Thanks man I appreciate the kind words. I've been around t4r for a while now and have seen a lot of members come and go. Unfortunately I've gotten busier and can't get on as much as I used to, but will pop in every so often. I will still be around t4r so you'll see me chime in from time to time. I really need to find some time to update the sc thread with more info.

Haha if I find some tundra brakes I'll definitely let you know. Sound deadening is something I wanted to do but to do it right is not cheap.

I'll be back though. I told the wife as soon as we get a new place with more parking I'm going to pick up a 1st gen 4Runner as a project. She knows I need something to tinker with and I've always wanted to get one since my 87 was totaled in high school. Hoping to get a 88 or 89 with the V6 and manual and do a 3.4 swap. You can bet it will get supercharged if I go the route. Hopefully next year I can swing it.

After driving her 600 miles in 3 days I was planning on giving her a break, mother nature had different plans.

Tundra brakes are something I really need to get done. The brakes were done in January(by the P.O) and they are already warped. Hate the stock brakes, plus lift/tires and mountain driving I will definitely be needing the bigger better brakes.

Ramon...you are just not right. Sitting her at lunch time and you throw up your super awesome What-A-Burger!! Hope you didn't choke on it !!
Hey, how did your trip go? Looks like your 4Runner took good care of you! Yes, our front brakes suck! I couldn't imagine rolling down 7% grade with our brakes...especially if you were towing a trailer.

How much snow did yall get? Dude...we are having an awesome winter. Today...we put up our Christmas lights...frik'in 70* out!! Loving it. Here in an 1/2 hour we are heading out to cut your Christmas tree down. It's a nice tradition...although there's normally a good bit of snow on the ground. Today...I'm going in shorts!!

It did really good, tackled the mountains like a champ. Coming back home it struggled a little bit, but there were some pretty good head winds. Going down the hills can be interesting with these brakes. They definitely don't like it to much. Not sure yet, it is still snowing, and I think it is supposed to snow all day today. 70 degree weather sounds so nice right about now lol

sometimes I wish I had a supercharger. How hard are they to maintain? What kind of maintenance does it need?

This is where a manual would come in handy. Last year I drove thru that area, and all the mountains, steep hills, etc.. My Camry struggled really bad.

I wish I had a manual 4runner. I haven't owned a manual vehicle since I was in college. I wanted my Taco to be a Manual, but the truck is too small and I am too tall, that when I press the clutch, my knee hits the steering wheel. Yes, even after I tilted the wheel up, and had the seat all the way back.

I figured if I ever get a stick, it would be in a sedan or a large truck.

Is this when the cupholders started?

Where you able to figure this out bud?

Sorry to hear you have to leave. You are more than welcome to stay in our BS thread if you want. :)

Do you have any leftover goodies laying around? :boink:

What kind of break did you have in mind? lol is that your Camry on the right?

Why is the wiper up on the 4runner?
    Whataburger = delicious

I haven't upgraded. I am slacking in this department.

I had to repaint it, ughh..

    I figure it out!

update coming up. @Russtoy I think you might want to pay attention to this.. lol

So I had water on my passenger floorboard today. I removed the carpet on the passenger side and it was soaking wet!

I thought it was a plugged ac drain: I ran the ac for 30 minutes, my ac drain worked fine.

Then I checked the sunroof: I had a waterhouse trickling water on the sunroof for a good 15-20 minutes, nope.

Third I checked my heater by turning on the heater for a good 30 minutes: no antifreeze smell, no dripping inside the cabin.

    I was puzzled.

Then I noticed my wiring running along the floorboard (picture from previous wiring install):

Then it occurred to me: What if rain water trickled down the wiring that I ran from the engine bay?

I grabbed a water hose, and sprayed the area where all my mod wiring leaves the engine bay and enters the cabin: sure enough, we had water trickling in there!

When I installed my busman fusebox, I ran my wiring thru the passenger side wiring grommet:

I poked a hole with a hook and fished the wire thru the grommet:

Well, guess what, the water was trickling thru there when it would rain.

So remember guys, silicone around the wiring that goes thru the grommet!

@ramonortiz55, thanks I have some random parts. Manual hub swap and some random stock parts. Going to wait to sell the 4runner to post everything though. Just in case I need to use anything.
