Maybe we should just talk "miles per tank" rather than trust everyone's math skills. I can't believe how bad some of your mileage is!!

My DCSB is nearly a year old, just turned 40k (I do a shitload of driving) I have around 3" of lift and have 285 duratracs on stock 16" sport wheels with 1" spacers. Shrockworks rear plate bumper and a softtopper. Always a few hundred lbs of tools in the bed. I usually run 89 octane fuel. 300 miles on a tank is bare minimum, usually around 330 and 350 is the most I've seen. I'm running mobil1 5-30 full syn for last 2 changes (dealer serviced to 30k) and haven't touched the plugs or changed diff oils. Oh, I've got a TRD washable air filter.

I've run 32(ish) psi and went up to ~36 and I don't notice a difference.

Now, if you're willing to put up with the punishment at max inflation- maybe you'd see a small bump.

I never complain about mileage... Light goes on, more gas goes in. Complaining does little to change this fact!

My 15' DCSB 4x4 regularly gets 310-320 before fuel light comes on,and that's city driving. Best highway was 369,I know it would've went 400. Filled it up and put 18 gallons in it. Now that was driving 2 lanes at about 62mph,bout 55miles one way.

I'm sure much better mileage can be attained at a steady 55-60mph with minimal starts/stops. Just never happens in my world.

I just switched my engine oil to synthetic today and plan to do the diffs as well. I need to do some more research on what to use for diffs. Also need to figure out for sure that I don't need to add a modifier to the rear diff.

Indeed. I dont see how a driver is getting 20 MPG with a super charger and not driving in a manner that is focused on extreme efficiency. I have no super charger and have a fairly light foot(typically cruising around 60~68) I accelerate and decelerate evenly and the best I have seen is just over 20. I have had 245 Firestone A/T for about three tanks now I average 19MPG.

I think many people either do the math wrong or they look at the best most outstanding MPG they ever figured and just say that is the average when in fact it was the exception.

I would try running a little higher PSI in your tires. Higher will get you better MPG but the ride will be more firm which I am fine with it is a truck. Just dont exceed the tire max pressure printed on the tire. So do that with an ambient tire(cold)

Hrmmm, sounds worth trying. With PSI that high how is the tire ware?

    -- edit --

Was reading some of the other posts. Never really considered the weight issue. I am 200lbs, with installed mods I know I have an additional 300-400lbs on board, plus whatever tools or whatever I have in the bed.

I'm about 70% highway per tank, but my Waze has me running about 75mph on good days and barely moving on bad days. My worst tanks average low 18's, my best tanks are right at 21. All stock, about 24k miles, 4x4, topper.

I've just owned the truck long enough to know the numbers on it is all. :)

By the time that light turns on, I believe you have approximately 3 gallons remaining in your fuel tank. I wouldn't run the truck with any less than 1 gallon regularly and expect the fuel pump to live a long life. Especially with those tiny little Denso pumps that are in our fuel tank bucket assembly. Those things are pathetically small.

I got 23.4 driving 55-60 down I-81 through MD, WV, and VA.

Ordinarily suburban driving gets me 16-17 in the winter, 18-19 in the summer.

If I drive over 70-75 on the highway, I'll get about 14.

This is from a post I made a few years back. I kept a mileage record on a new 2010 Tacoma from the 1st tank of gas to the 90th tank. Here you can see how the winter blend affects gas mileage. The general trough between tanks 25 and 45 were during the winter months.

What, exactly, constitutes a "tank"? That introduces a lot of variables.

The math isn't hard, miles divided by gallons.
