So....my next door neighbor owns a repair shop. He's selling and retiring ( he's 66 ) He has a 3yr old Snap-On Master Series tool box. It's 6ft wide with 11 drawers...and it's 'arctic silver'. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna buy it from him....I figure this is likely the only time I'll be able to get a tool box this awesome at a reasonable price. This is the box I should have it in my garage before Xmas :fingerscrossed:

    The Bed is stock...ish
I've always wanted a big box like that... But they are ridiculously over priced. I mean come on... That box lists for nearly 12,000$$$... Really?.... /rant

I hope you can get a good deal on it.

First box, Buy used, NEVER buy new off the truck, the markup is unreal. I traded a Snap On Box I paid $1750 used for MAC Macimizer, got $3750 trade in on the SnapOn, owed $1500 on the Macimizer when deal was done, old SnapOn box was for sale the next week for $1000. Year later I sold the Macimizer back to MAC dealer for $2800 (after it was repaired from being broken into)

If you're buying the name brand because you think it's more secure, THEY ARE NOT, they can and are broken into all the time. Some are easier, some not so much. A well placed pry bar will open any of them.
If you get a knowledgable thief, he knows exactly how to trip the SnapOn box and open every drawer, no damage done. Same the rest. 10 years ago I lost over $4k in tools, they pried mine open. once open, they cherry picked all the good name brand tools, and all the air tools, and that was only the top 3 drawers they got open.

The box store tool boxes aren't terrible, pay a bit more get them with bearing slides and heavier construction. I've had a 42" Craftsman top chest with roller bearing slides in my work van(s) for the last 10 years, $450 in '06 . Road service is TOUGH on tool boxes. It's tired, but it still works well and the drawers usually stay closed. This same box has been in 4 different work vans the last 10 years.
