I didn't add drawers to my platform either. I think they take up a lot of space and my platform already weighs enough as is. A lot of my gear also just barely fits underneath with my platform built up at wheel well height. If I added drawers I might not get some of my stuff including my 10x10 easy up underneath the platform. I'm still debating the idea of drawers myself though.

What you might want to look into though is buying some under bed storage bins. They have tiny wheels on them that let them roll easily and are usually the perfect height for under a platform. I keep one loaded with some of my camping gear and just load it into the truck when it's time to hit the dirt.

yea im a pretty cheap person, but when i went to buy the cap i figured this would last the life of the truck and i knew i would have regrets if i didnt splurge a little so i just went ahead and got the screened in windoors. im so glad i did. i was skeptical if they were going to be as useful as everyone claimed, but they most definitely are.

yea i was thinking about you adding them, but even on leer caps, the cutouts are different. my brother in law has the same cap as me just without the windoors and yea, different. if you know people that are good at fiberglass work (i imagine working with boats that you will) its not out of the question to re do the window opening. its a little extreme, but it all depends on how bad you want them!

I know the conversation is about RTTs, but there is another alternative - the teardrop.

    teardrop.jpg

Warm in the winter, dry in the rain, not wet tent to fold up in the morning. And, you can leave it at base camp instead of tearing down camp every time you want to go somewhere.

Of course, there is no perfect solution - all have advantages and disadvantages.

I spent around $200, but i got some specialty lumber and bought way too much shit... this is why i cant go into hardware stores! but all that money was for screws, hinges(which i didnt use and will return) and a few other ins and outs because i like toys. if you have everything but the lumber laying around, i only spent $111 bucks on that. i didnt even use all the lumber.

I leave my stuff at camp when using a tent. No concerns. You spend good money on a sleeping pad, good sleeping bag and you're set. That's real camping.
