Im looking to purchase some Hankook RF10's ans Level 8 rims from discount tire direct. Im getting 265/75/16 on stock suspension. Ive searched all over and need to know what offset I need for the tires not to rub on my mudflaps. I want to keep the mudflaps and just want to purchase the correct offset. I see that they are offered in -25, -10, -6, 0 and +18... Anyway, what offset will work best for me? I plan on lifting slightly in the distant future and dont want to rub in the meantime. The Trackers and MK6's also come in 16x8 or 16x8.5 which makes it even more confusing...

    thanks in advance

I have the level 8 MK6 -10 offset 16x9 with a 3 inch spacer lift and 265/75 r16. Can't really give you advice, but I can show you my truck for reference. Negative offset means that the tires stick out. I like my tires to stick out a bit, but not too much, so I went with the - 10. As far as the width of the wheels, I would go with 8.5, 9 if you can, because the tires you're planning on getting the (same ones I have) are pretty fat.

Thanks alot. Do you really have 275/75/16 or is that a typo. Those would be wider than 265's. Im looking for the tires to stick out just a little and not rub my mudflaps. The rims im looking at are either 8" or 8.5" wide.

You might have to lose your front mudflaps.

I have 265/75/16 Cooper A/T 3s (C rated) mounted on SCS F5s -16x8, 4.5bs (0 offset), stock suspension. They do not rub, anywhere, but it's close. Slight amount of sidewall poke, but the tread is still just inside the fenders (which is what I wanted). Be advised that not all 265/75/16s are created equal. There are some variations in actual tread width, so you may, or may not, have rubbing on the front mudflaps.

Here's a site that will allow you to plug in different tire, wheel, and offset sizes so you can compare them. I can't really tell you what to do. I spent hours going thru threads I found after using the TW search function before making my choice. Had initially planned on getting 16x8 with -12 offset, but opted for the 0 because I didn't want the extra 1/2 inch of poke. Just my preference.

I know you're asking about 16s but I have the Bully Pros in 17x9 w/ -12 offset wrapped in 265x70x17 Duratracs (essentially the same size you want to run but a different tire).

I was putting a lift on at the same time but put the truck on the ground with stock suspension and it rubbed bad with half turn in steering wheel. I still had to remove front mud flaps and trim the front bumper and fender liner a bit after the lift so I wouldn't rub.

Here's a pic with wheels & tires before the lift:

Thanks, after alot of research, i think that even if i get the 16x8 zero offset i will have to remove the mud flaps... I really don't think there's a way around it unless i just use my stock rims with the 265/75/16's.

8" rim is PLENTY wide for a 265 tire.

I bet you could run the +18 offset 8" wide rim and still clear the upper control arm with a 265 75 R16 tire.

    Folks often run a 285 75 R16 on a 8" rim with 0mm offset.

The less negative offset you have (more positive offset) the greater the chance you'll clear the flaps.

I think the most positive they carry in the mk6's is zero.
