That's not stupid on their part. You're lifting the truck which changes the geometry of the suspension which subsequently leads to shorter CV life. That's not Toyota's responsibility to fix.

You do understand that the dealership gets paid from toyota to do repairs right?

It's a money making job for the dealership and the tech. The tech gets paid 2 hours and it takes him 30 min. The service department bills for 2 hours at an average of 80$ per hour to toyota.

Also the service writer gets paid 2% on warranty work also.

Did you miss the part about it not being their responsibility?

No but making money is. It's an easy fix and good paying. Try having them chase down a rattle and see where u get. It's a business bro they are there to make bank.

So you expect them to fix non-warrantied items on Toyota's dime because they make money on it? If dealers did that consistently they would be out of business because toyota would be too.

Your right, but how many of them do you think they see with bad cv joints? It's not enought to raise a concern with toyota. Keep in mind thay also need to keep happy customers and support the product. If you get a service manager that won't help you out go to another dealer that will.

If your doing all your service with them they are also more likely to work with you.

Fyi I was a service manager for toyota for 5 years.

If you were a Service Manager for Toyota, you should be able to articulate that Toyota has to prove the part failed specifically because of the Lift. Which is hard to do.
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prevents them from voiding warrantys based solely off of lifts or other mods.

It would never even get that far because it wouldn't even be an issue. Mma is there for the customers sense of security and to up hold the warranty.

Any good dealership wouldn't even question the repair. If someone got a dick head manager then they can contact toyota and for it. That's where the Mma act comes in effect.

I had this dude do the cmc and fender cut. I will clean it up myself with fine sandpaper and paint.

Lol I just used the thin cutoff wheel. Only need to do a little spot. I also used it on my air dam to trim it so my tires wouldn't rub.

Love to see some pics when your done. I'm guessing I may not need to trim as much as you did since my wheels are 2 sizes narrower?

If you are just doing a small portion of the plastic a utility knife with a fresh blade works fine. I suggest taping off the cuts so you get the cuts straight.

I did not have to do much because of my lift. I was going to take pics today but it rained. I will try again tomorrow.
