Ladies and gentlemen I have located where that awful wind noise is coming from. This foam you see (was on both sides) knocked down 90% of the howling. I know this is NOT a solution, but now we all know where to attack the problem. I also for kicks hung a furniture blanket inside the cab along the back, this too helped to lower the road noise.

Hmmm... do you have the top part of the bed/cab gap covered as well?
If not, you're then saying the houling comes from the gap on the sides of the truck mainly?

I believe there is a vent back there. Its there so you can close the doors with the windows up.

It suppose to be two rubber flaps one on in each side between the cabin and the bed, vertical mounted.

THis would shock me. Majority of us are hearing this noise from the hood region/passenger windshield area. Plausible the noise is tricking us in direction of noise?

    Are you fucking serious?
That was my first guess...surprised the resident noise expert didn't try that.

Are you sure the noise happens right there; or, are you just blocking wind/noise from a possibly stuck open or loose cab vent?

    wow, bro, great insight.

These two sets of quarter vents are the most talked about topic in terms of noise complaints

I put foam in the entire area between the cab and the bed. did NOT solve the howling issue. All trucks would have the howl if they were built the same and they pretty much are so wind is being eliminated by Toyota Engineering so far.

Toyota engineering is leading toward a mechanical solution after driving a few trucks. Bob has also been told it is likely not wind. That is why ALL trucks don't have the howl. There may have been a bad set of carrier bearings.

Like OP said; he actually stopped 90% of his wind noise.
You say your howl is mechanical, fine...
Why come in every thread about noise saying it's mechanical.

I am hearing the howl less often, but mine occasionally still does it.

I have about 250 miles that I've driven the past 5 days.

Last night, the last 1.5 miles to the house was the only time it made the noise.

It was windier on our road than it had been the entire trip home.

Stranger things have happened, but I would be shocked if it wasn't an aero issue.

    Wind seems to affect mine....

The installation of my tonneau cover has coincided with the howl happening less.

I also think that I hear it drivers side, up front.....so it's strange that the tonneau cover would help this...

This is a tough one to figure out / make sense of.
