    You grind off the INNER lip so at full bump or droop the shaft won't contact the inner lip...if you understand this then you will see exactly why you cannot use the oem cv boot

    I dont know much about fab so Im asking to get more info, but wouldn't it be stronger if that upper v was flipped to where it looked like this: V and then the bottom two pillars were set up like an upside down V so that they could all meet at a junction?

    Not sure if im explaining this right lol

    I dont think so, set the way it is now would provide the most strength at the top middle junction. Doing it the way you described would provide strength towards the middle bar in the cab that will never take a hit laterally like that.

    Your have to get more creative when working with a stock frame. My truck is a lot heavier and bigger i did it like this

    It's pretty pointless to tie a down tube into just a cross tube in the back

    Nice, I was genuinely curious but that makes sense to make it stronger towards the top of the cab where you would take the bulk of the impact also. Good to know, Im sure both ways are plenty strong.

    Actually I believe what you described would not be as strong because the way he has it laid out it ties directly into the C pillar uprights which go through the floor to his frame so the load transfers to a very solid point. With the V you described the bottom of the V would have to be tied into a lateral bar across the floor which would not provide any support vs those C pillars going directly to the frame.

    You'll also notice in your comparison that they added many more tubes in the middle for more of a spiderweb design to withstand force all around, not just for roof strength. Maybe we should look at some Nascar cages as well?

    ATO front skid (need more but icon's might fail if I hang anything else from my truck) All-Pro front bumper thanks to a good deal here and a pesky encounter with a rock or 20, total chaos uppers.

    Well I'm almost a moron I guess... I didn't pay DMZ that much but it was close!

    However if I had to spend that much time working on my truck I'd have lost $$ vs going to work.

    Everyone always bashes Kibbe... I've met him a few times in person and he's cool! I got his kit for my Silverado and it looks bad ass... just need to finish building the truck though. Most of the parts on my Tacoma I've gotten through him and he's helped me out when I've texted him asking for advice with setting things up on my truck.
