 Morning all. About 2 hrs left of this shift, then my 2 day break. Colony Christmas in Palmer this weekend, wife and I going with youngest son and his fiancée this afternoon.

Dental stuff ... two top back molars, one either side are gone, skipped the root canal option and had them pulled. They only made 50% contact with the lowers, so took the extraction option; glad the dentist gave me the option. 3 crowns on the cracked teeth from the moose peeling the roof off my car and whacking me head on her way by. I got one in the lower front that keeps getting looser ... could end up in the club with Andy. Hope all goes well with your crown Mike, heck of a way to celebrate Christmas Eve. ;) And, of course, pray they can make your boy's teeth right.

On what your Mom says and the dentures:

Finally on the bolded part, you and me both. ;)

I so want to visit Gettysburg one of these years. Plan to make it back one Fall to visit my Chief in NJ and take a road trip to see some good Fall colors. We just don't get the full color array up here. Adding Gettysburg into my mental notes for that trip.

Have a great Sunday everyone! :)

Morning all. I never want dentures, once there are no teeth the bone loss keeps getting worse on your jaw and the dentures get bigger and bigger. I would rather get implants.

I once told my kid to grown up so he could support me. My Dad looked at me and said,"Yeah? When does that happen?"

Gettysburg is one of my favorite historical spots, my Dad was a Civil War buff and would tell me stories about the battles at the bloody corner and little round top. It was great standing on the spot where it happened.

Yeah... and it'll send shivers down your spine to stand on Seminary Ridge and look out over the vast expanse of open fields and imagine the tens of thousands of Confederate soldiers marching... not running... marching... across that ground into the face of cannons and thousands and thousands of bullets.

One thing that I often have said about that battle... there are at least four things that happened that changed the outcome of the battle and if any ONE of them had not happened, we very well could have ended up being two separate countries. And a couple of them were flukes. It's one thing that makes the study of that battle so interesting.

Doing some yard work. Really? mid-december?? LOL!
60 degrees @ 10:00 am. Still have some annuals on the deck that survived a couple of frosts and have flowers on them. Seen a couple of honeybees out . Crazy mid-December weather. I'll take it!
Supposed to chill down a bit for the weekend, but thats only for a couple days, then back up to 40's and 50's.

Forecast is 2 inches of rain over 24 hours here. They said that if temperatures were where they should be that equals 20 inches of snow, I like rain better.

Last couple of days been emailing back and forth with the 3 other retired Navy guys that I usually hunt with. The Admiral is in Australia as a consultant at the embassy and just passed his hunter safety test to hunt down under. The Captain is headed to his winter house which is in Oahu soon, right now the Cdr. is staying there. His father was the last surviving officer that was on the USS Arizona during the attack on Pearl and passed away a couple of months ago. John took his remains to be interned at the USS Arizona on Dec. 7

Aye, it is in my opinion too. He wanted to be laid to rest with his men for his final resting place. That is one of the definitions of a leader to me. Managers... not so much.

LCDR Joseph Langdell at USS Arizona Memorial 2008. He tried to get back every 5 years for the Memorial Ceremony. Being close to 100 years old he didn't make the last one.

Thanks so much for sharing... he was part of America's Greatest Generation and there are so few of our WWII vets remaining. Our country was so fortunate to have them.

Damn I wish there was a double like button, great picture of the United States Ensign Jeff! I've tried a lot of angles and backgrounds but really like what you did here. Thank you for that!

Thanks Cold Iron. I took that picture this past summer when the wife and I were in Asheville NC. The name of the state park escapes me but I can tell you it was a long hike to the top of a mountain to an abservation deck. I love this picture too, one of my favorites, I'm glad you like it too.
