I assume he meant the military checkpoints that you find either abandoned or the ones you help defend.

But i have found them in just random containers inside areas

Yeah, sorry, the military checkpoints. During the loading screens it sometimes says the best place to find fusion cores is at the military checkpoints. I was wondering if I was missing something obvious but it appears that the tip is just BS. Maybe at one point all of those old busted up APC's had a fusion core holder in them but they took it out before releasing the game. That would make sense. I mean, if the Fusion Core can power a set of armor that can do basically anything it could probably power a small tank too.

I've found them all over the place. Sometimes in those funny little generators and sometimes in containers. They are only worth ~300ish caps too with my perks so that's not much purified water to keep restocking them even if I stop finding them.

Where are these military checkpoints? I blew through so fast the first time I played the game I didn't come across any of this stuff.

Walk along the bigger roads and you'll find 'em here and there

I also get cores in broadcast facilities....look for buildings with radar dishes, radio towers, etc. Lots of those have power plants with cores just waiting to be ganked

It's a great little settlement but if you don't destroy the original turrets when the place is yours it won't go towards your defense even though they "defend" your settlers.

I just got to a similar place yesterday called the amphitheater, some dude is pushing his missionaries to give him all your possessions. I saved it right before just to see what would happen but you never get passed "level one" so I fucked everyone up with bare power fists. Strong still had his weapon though so jokes on them. Cultists.

They are randomly scattered on roads. They are basically checkpoints left over from the great war. A couple of APC's and a barrier is basically all they are. Sometime the BOS will use them as they were originally intended and, as you pass by if you are a member of the BOS, you will get a quick style side quest to go save that checkpoint from a random attack. I actually love those random attacks because the enemies will be as strong as the BOS. So quite often it'll be 4-6 supermutants or gunners with a couple of missile launchers, high end rilfes, and once I even found a gunner using a fatman. Super good hauls for very little work.

Thanks. I hadn't figured that out. I'll have to do some exploring tonight again. I just found a rock quarry yesterday but there was a door up top that I couldn't find the key for. Even upon completion there is tons to find on the map.

    Very much so.

My rule of thumb is....if there's a half inch of empty green space on the map, then I prolly missed something and should go wander through there at some point.

Amazing how much detail and content they shipped in this game. You can see why they took over 5 years!

I find it funny how BoS are using enclave based checkpoints. Oh how I miss thee. Never forget John Henry Eden. He is love. He is life. For the enclave.

On that note WTF are all the eyebots doing strolling around now without the Enclave? I noticed that they are everywhere randomly and there's always a couple strolling around Diamond City. You have to wonder if the Enclave will strike back in an expansion and have been collecting tactical information during the events of Fallout 4 waiting for either the Institute to emerge or be defeated before they move in.

The funny thing is that I've seen the BoS protecting convoys if they are near the checkpoint. Just another grey area in this game. The BoS make me think of the modern military but without any public oversight. One thing leads to another and all of a sudden you have protectors who seem great until they start killing everything that remotely could be hostile through some sort of paranoia. Which is what they are supposed to be anyways.

It'd be neat if they could setup a miniature economy sort of model for your settlements for more than just food and water. Have each Colony contributing something like concrete or steel via gathering from a nearby source or something.

Probably just picked up models that were unused like how some mister handys in f3 were usually hostile trying to saw you or light you in flames.

However considering shelter was released with the announcement of fallout 4 here's something I found. So there's a tad of hope.

Sorry about the enclave rant but one more thing, I wish they'd bring back the enclave power armor and hellfire power armor and I'm not talking about the cartoonish X-01.

Well someone has to take out Liberty Prime now that he's strolling around town. If you did the BoS questline of course.

I'm still wondering which questline is correct. If they are going to have expansions that build on the events of the main story one of them must be the "correct" timeline... or they will add multiple timelines and quests that have nothing to do with the main story which would make me sad.

Exactly. Have a few people get killed everyonce in a while in accidents/raids out of town range that results in decreased moral so it's a bit of a balancing act. It could be implemented pretty easily and be very interesting to setup and manage.
