best way to get 3''-4'' lift?

ok so i want to get a 3 inch to 4'' lift on my taco. what would be the best

way to do it? i don't want to get something thats going to break on me

within months. i will be doing minor off roading, nothing crazy. so its

mainly for looks but i still want something thats decent for the dirt. i

also want my ride to still be smooth. all these different type of lifts are

confusing the crap out of me lol. but i'm kinda sorta getting the hang of it.

now will it be cheaper if i buy everything seperate or should i just buy a

lift kit with everything already there and have someone install it?

i do plan on paying for the install because i will just end up messing

something up trying to do it myself.

 

lets say i get the 5100 in the front and set them to 2.5 is there any way to add on to that lift?

Get some OME coils on top of that

 

do you have a 4x4? if no get spindles, 4", if yes its 3" or 6".

choices of 5100, eibach, toytec, king, ome, icon..

 

i don't have a 4x4 and i'm trying to stay away form body lifts. now what exactly are coils? lol

Definitely agree. Since you want that soft ride (which 5100s will not provide when used to lift) get the spindles which allow you to lift without altering your ride.

 

Check this thread. Look half way down the page at SANDMAN427's truck. Bada$$ he has spindles which give you a 4 in lift good ride and is like 1.5in wider per side.

Find a 3 to 4 inch curb and drive up on top of it and your truck is instantly 3 to 4 inches higher!!

ya coils are springs. ome and eibach make springs, dont know who else.

best route to go would just be buying a set of coilovers or again the spindle is probably the absolute best way to achieve lift keeping stock suspension geometry

 

now with spindles do i have to get the 5100? or do they usually just use the stock shocks and coils? and when you say 1.5 in wider per side is the way the tires kinda flare out right?

 

this is where im not sure, im pretty damn sure you could use stock shocks and springs, because its a spindle "drop" its just dropping where the hub assembly sits and thats where your getting your lift from.

the plus side to getting say camburg coilovers with the upper control arm is that you will get a little bit more articulation than the 4" you originally have.

yes it does give you wider stance but it depends on the backspacing of your wheels and what size tires you decide to run.

oh and one more thing from what people say who run spindles here get 4.5 backspacing wheels otherwise you may encounter some rubbing

 

Lift spindles alter your ride no matter what. I should no because I have them and my shop couldn't get to factory specs.

well i'm looking at the 5100's with 10mm enhance kit. hows that sound? you all say not to stack lifts. is this stacking lifts?

 

oh and how many leaf's do you think i should get? 3? 4? 5? whats the difference between 3 and 5? thanks.. really appreciate everyones help.

whats a enhance kit?

only putting a 1/2" spacer on tops not really stacking lifts so that will be fine. lots of people use the 1/2" spacers with their OME lifts to get the full 3".

what are you looking for in the back, to level it, have some front rake have back rack? also what height are you gonna run with the 5100's and the top plate? if your gonna be close to 3" and want back rack keep it stock or maybe someone has like a 1" add a leaf , level rake probably just a 1.5" add a leaf, and front rake you might need to go 3" in the back.

 

yeah i'm looking at the 10mm enhance kit from ome. its cheap and adds little less then 1.5'' if i can remember correctly. i'm looking at a 1.5'' 3 leaf aal for the back to make it even. i plan on running the 5100 up front at 2.5 so i'll have about 3'' maybe a little more. now whats the difference between a 3 leaf and a 5 leaf aal? would it be better if i go with the 5 leaf? or is the 3 leaf enough for dirtbikes? lol
