I did the search but didn't find enough info on this subject, including google. Doesn't seem like a popular upgrade.

    My questions are:

1.Is it an upgradable item for a prerunner. Straight installation or need mods?

    2. How much and if there is a after-market version, who sells it.
    3. Is the result worth the $/mods?

    Thanks

They keep referring to both a front and rear brace on the X-runner. The rear one is quite obvious. I've not heard of the front one until reading that page. I'm apt to not believe until I see it.

Your gonna try and put them on your truck? Post pictures!!!!! speaking of X runner parts onto non x runner trucks, anyone put just the x runner bumper on? preferably I'd like to see in on a 12+ but I would be curious to see it at all. The 12+'s look like they have different flairs that wouldn't really line up though.

    Braces? or Bumper?
I'm actually curious about the braces, I'm just half interested to see what a the bumper would look like.
Ask in a photo shop thread?

    1) I'm pretty sure it would just bolt right up. If you look at the rear mounts for the leaf springs, there is a hole there at the bottom of the mount. That is the mount point for the brace. The other mount points are up in the receiver hitch region.
    2) Not sure it would be worth buying a pre-made one and almost certainly the dealer would be highway robbery. Its a real simple part that you could make up in 20-30 minutes out of $10 worth of steel and 4 bolts.
    3) No idea at all. I've been wondering myself off and on about what the thing will actually do. If it will reduce or eliminate the bad-traction bunny hop, it could be worth its weight in gold. I'm thinking that if the x-runner is the street racer-ish version tacoma, then you really would find the bunny hop to be murderous, so that would be my best guess.

    https://parts.olathetoyota.com/part...iteid=216493&vehicleid=314172&diagram=8512125

The x-runner parts you would be interested in are numbered 8 and 9 in that diagram, plus the well known 11 which is the main rear brace.

Edit, make that *only* 9 and 11. The diagram shows 8 as being x-runner only, but the part is present on other models as well, which means that it is only *different* for x-runner.

Edit #2: also take a look at #5. That one is not present in other models.

Edit #3: I see now... #5 isn't present on base 5-lug. Its present on all prerunner/4x4/xrunner. So it really is back to 9 and 11.

Edit #4: Total price to add in all the x-runner braces from *factory* would be $421. Note that presence of a receiver hitch may interfere with the rear brace, and there is no telling if the front (which are actually in the middle of the truck) would fit at all. But like I said above, they would be very easy parts to reproduce.

Thanks so much!!! That's exactly what I wanted to see!

So to confirm, just the one between 3 & 4 (9) and then the well known rear brace?

I think so, as long as you know that there are *two* #9's that are mirror image of each other. One for the left side and one for the right.
