Erratic idle is not normal on any new vehicle. What is the tach doing? Does it simmer down once warmed up?

It bounces up and down about 200 RPM I'd say. Does it warm or cold and did it since day 1. It's pretty annoying, but I figured this was normal and part of the grumbling going on around here.

In truck now if a/c is on it does it if you shut a/c off still does it not as bad almost like if you never shut the a/c off . But when I started truck it was fine idle until I turned a/c on then it never went exactally back to perfect smooth idle like he said about 150 rpms

Most cars speed up when the Ac compressor engages, then slow down when it disconnects. Same with the cooling fan in some cases.

Is there an update to your rough idle issue? It has been a week. ;-)

That's great! So it just "stopped" or "got better", on its own, after driving it?

Mine has seemingly gotten smoother with more miles as well. I'm at 1,150 miles now.

Well....while we are on this topic. If I'm honest I'd say that I feel "something", not only at idle, but at cruising speeds. Typically, I notice it the most when I am on very smooth (newish) asphalt at around 40-60mph. It's almost as if water is in the fuel, or something. But I know this can't be the case as I use only 100% gasoline for my vehicles-and because it is new. It is so faint of an irregularity I am not sure I could even explain it to a service technician. It is just a little "rougher" than what I think of a new car being at a smooth cruising speed. I haven't ruled out that it could be tire bounce/vibration, either. I'm still just feeling my way through the break-in. I hope it smoothes out, like you guys' trucks did. It seems to feel that way at an idle, too. That is why I think it may be more than the tires. This is the first 4wd that I have owned, first Toyota V6, etc. The power doesn't seem to be hampered at all. When I step hard on the throttle it goes (with no hesitation). The RPM gauge also stays steady and doesn't bounce up and down. When I went to pick up some lumber the other day, I left the doors open for about 10 minutes while I loaded the truck bed. When I went to start it, it wouldn't start on the first two turnings-over. It was on the 3rd try that it fired. The next morning it took two "firings" to start. I was a bit concerned, but it hasn't done that since (and I have started it probably 15 times or so). I just blamed that on leaving the doors open-or it just being new and not "broken in" yet. Hopefully these things will work themselves out because, aside from this, I am LOVING my new truck.

If I am REALLY honest, it is why I responded to this thread in the first place. I was researching "rough idle", because I thought I had read a headline about it a few days before, and I saw this thread. I was curious about the OP and his findings...

Mine still does it after 1500 miles. It's not enough to really worry me, but I'll be bringing it up at the 5k unless it gets worse. I've noticed it probably only happens once every 5 or so stops, and more often when the engine is cold.

If it doesn't stop, and you end up bringing it up at your 5k service, please post what you find out. :)

I did bring it in before my service date as it seemed to get worse. They replicated the issue and opened a case with Toyota. They had the truck for a couple days, reflashed the ECU and gave it back. Still idles strangely, so I guess I need to bring it back.

Well mine had all but stopped (3700 miles), but once I had my battery replaced (different issue) the roughness came back a little. So I am guessing the ECU was wiped and it is "learning" my driving habits again?... It is not an unbearable issue, to be sure. Just one that a picky person, like me, will be annoyed by until it stops.
