I love my cap for the most part, only a few downsides i've found. Main reason for me is it makes my RTT to high, so if you wheel with one think about a lower profile bed rack. Im also worried that ill bounce into a tree and destroy the windows/fiber glass, trails are tight here in the PNW :D

Had another little snow run yesterday. Went tubing/sledding, did some snow wheeling, and hung out with some good folks. I pulled a Toyota Matrix out of a snow bank, and @Uncle Cliffy yanked a Jeep Patriot out of deep snow on a road he had no business being on. Got to check out my buddies new 3rd Gen Supercharged T4R too.

It's still snowing up there! I went to a different area today and almost slid off a bank into a creek. Sadly no pics of that. Had to dig a path with my shovel and engage the locker and ATRAC to reverse enough to get the front end back on the road. Kind of sketchy, I thought I was going to have to winch my way back straight.

This is shortly after that debacle.

More fun in the snow last night. I was on my way home from work and my buddy called me and asked if I'd help pull his friends cousin out who was stuck in the snow. I called another Tacoma buddy with a winch and we headed up about dark to find said cousin. Apparently they had tried to snatch him out and a Jeep had tried to winch him out to no avail due to the stuck Suburban being so much heavier and the icy conditions.

We made it up to the general area he was at, but another Tacoma guy had already winched him out, the 'Burb kept nearly sliding into the ditch due to broken 4wd and nearly bald tires so my friend and I hooked straps up to him front and rear and guided him down to where the road was clear of ice and snow. On our way down our other friend said he saw headlights go sideways, then slide into the ditch so when we unhooked from the big fat Chebby, we ventured back up the icy hill and discovered a Dodge Durango sunk in a pretty deep ditch.

The road surface was packed snow and ice, on a slope so slick that I couldn't walk without nearly falling down. The 2 of us that had winches pulled off the other side of the road and buried our ass ends in the ditch, chocked our wheels, and hooked up to the poor Dodge. After some maneuvering, digging, and winching we got him mostly back onto the road. My truck started to slide however so I had to bury myself further in the ditch for a little more resistance. My buddy moved his truck out of the danger zone where my truck kept trying to slide and I ended up winching the Durango the remainder of the way out of the ditch. All in all we had good results and were able to help some people make it home safe. I don't know why people continue to venture out in conditions like these with less than adequate gear and vehicles. Sounds like the road was in way better condition when they went up, but when it started to cool down it became one big slippery shit show.

    I discovered a couple things...

    1. PM my winch more often: I had some corrosion in the control socket. Still worked, but it worried me a bit.
    2. Get some Maxtracs, probably would have helped.
    3. Carry tire chains, even if I didn't need them it might have helped the folks who got stuck.
    4. I need bed lighting and under hood lighting!

Good times and good recovery experience. I'll post some pics later.

So Shane @Mach375 traveled up into my neck of the woods to visit family for the holidays and we were able to get together yesterday for a beer, some decent bowling alley food, and a nice, nearly frozen tundra-ish BS session. He has quite the kick ass trail limo. All sorts of cool shit to look at and @Uncle Cliffy, @sect0r and I were able to pick up some Anti-dark underhood lightning kits. Had a good turn out of local Taco owners too.

I'm thinking I might crank up my coilovers a bit. No weight in the back and she's stink bugging a bit.

CV's look good. I've had no issues.

I don't mind it all that much, it serves a purpose but I just noticed it today after I took all the weight out of my bed.

Good guess... Incorrect however. Hint: It does have to do with air.
