    Peter it means that Northstar is the battery manufacturer and the others are labeled with their private branding. It is like Odyssey makes DieHard Platinum and Stinger batteries.

    Everyone whose battery is close to being out of warranty or feels/knows its losing its cold cranking amps should buy one and keep it stored at room temp off the ground and it still should be ready to go your battery goes bad. A good battery is a good investment and every Tacoma should come stock with a quality agm battery like an Odyssey or Northstar! Treat yourself to it TW members, you won't regret it. Just return/sell those crappy Christmas gifts for one!

    With all due respect, the only thing worse than storing a wet or AGM battery at room temperature is storing it above room temperature or below 20 degrees F. The reason is because a battery is an electrochemical device and has a natural self-discharge rate which is affected by temperature and battery type (plate chemistry). Increased temperatures create greater self-discharge rates which intensifies lead sulfate formation on the plates and can cause sulfation. Temperatures below 20 degrees will freeze fully discharged wet batteries and can damage them. Keeping the battery fully charged (recommended) or periodically recharging will prevent sulfation in storage. For more information, see Sections 7.6, 13 and 16 in the Car and Deep Cycle Battery FAQ.
