Its a Softopper. Not the most attractive thing in the world, but it cost 1/3 as much as a fiberglass cap and you can take it off in 5 minutes by yourself.

I can't wait till a proven air intake and exhaust become available to add some horses to my truck to haul around my 285/70/17 a bit easier

With so little displacement, I wouldn't count on anything significant.

Afe power made some good parts for the 15. Was the computer similar on the last gen?

Worst tires I've ever owned. For the amount of noise they made, I could have had Duratracs, yet the tread pattern was a little less aggressive than a BFG T/A. The sidewalls were so mushy that the truck wobbled left and right constantly at highway speeds. Hit a bump at 70mph and get ready for a rodeo ride! They sucked on snow/ice too. Discount Tire honored their satisfaction guarantee and put the stock Firestones back on no questions asked. All it cost me was $40 for mounting/balancing.

I had ATP's on two full-size trucks and liked them. Weird. They were super quiet.

I had Cooper Discoverer ATPs on my last Taco. I really liked them and the day after I got them on, went through a snow storm. That truck was only 2wd and had no problems at all going through that. As they wore down, they got a little bumpy and made more noise, but overall for the price I really liked them. Made it through a couple of ice/snow winters.

Yeah I'm surprised by your experience. I have them and think they're quiet, ride fine on the highway even at 85+ mph, and I just blasted through an 8 inch snowstorm this morning driving to work passing all kinds of people slipping around.

I went with the BFG KO2 in 265/70/17. Tire is awesome. 600 miles on the tires so far with stock suspension and got my first rub noise yesterday under slight compression while turning. Anyone else get rubbing with that size?

Not sure we're all talking about the same tires here. These are what I had. Big spaces in between the tread blocks create a lot of noise-no way around that. They were P rated also, which probably contributed to the mushy sidewalls.

One can never have too many light bars.
Going back and forth on DynaPros and Cooper Discoverers myself. Both will be about $650 after tax and install. Had some Ko2's on my old Frontier but they were about a grand. They were solid but I think both options will get the job done for much less $$. Might just depend on if a manufacturer is giving any rebates at the time.

I chose Nitto Grappler G2s, 265/70/17, bolts out, in the C rating. They are relatively light (41lbs.), tall (31.65 in.), and inexpensive @$160 ea. from Discount Tire. I liked the way they looked in pics on this forum:) Ride is better than stock, no rubbing with OEM mud flaps. image.jpg

I'd probably go KO2 or Terra Grappler but in the stock tire size on the 17" so 265/65R17. Just don't want to muck up the fuel economy really and the aftermarket tires already weigh quite a bit more than stock, even at stock size.

FYI I just ordered 265/75/16 BFG K02s from Discount Tire. They price matched a deal that 4weel parts is running. 159 per tire. That's a good deal IMO.
