    3.5" (adjusted to 4.5") fabtech suspension lift. 15x8 procomp 252 crawlers. 32x11.5 BFG Ko2's.
hey guys. Who knows of a performance chip or tuner that will get me better gas mileage. Any hp gains would be nice too but I'm mainly worried about my gas mileage. I'm lifted 4.5" on 32's running stock gearing and I recently side piped it and (as expected) my needle is noticeably heavier. So.. What do y'all think. Thanks so much

The overwhelming consensus here is that chips are useless and that if you want performance and possible efficiency gains then you need to regear.

What gear ratio should I be running?

Do you have the 2.4, 2.7 or 3.4?

If it is a 3.4, I'd leave the stock 4.10s if you're only running 32s. But you could go up to 4.56 especially if you ever plan on going up to 33s.

A lot depends on how you use your truck also. I'm a 95% pavement and 5% off road kind of guy. So I love my 31s and 4.10 gears.

A lift reduces mileage, more air under a car = more drag yada yada. Bigger heavier tires reduce mileage, more rolling weight, more resistance, lower final gear ratio, yada yada. To get back to stock with just those 2 changes you would likely need an additional 25-50hp (making up numbers) through the entire powerband. That's not possible. Even a functioning chip, mods etc, only really gain hp in a very narrow rpm range. A vast majority of chips are beyond useless, most bolt on mods are at best going to gain you a hp or 2, that isn't noticeable in a 100+hp engine.

The most effective way, really the only way, to get back to close to being stock for power and mileage will be gears. If you're running the 2.7 you want 4.3 at a minimum and 4.56 would be better. The gear ratio can by itself get you back to stock, but you'll still have the extra weight to contend with so to get really back to 'stock' going 1 step further is going to be better.

I appreciate it guys. I do plan on going to 33's so I will probably regear as I plan on taking her past the white line quite a bit more often. Which brand gears should I be looking at in the future?

Many people go through East Coast Gear Supply. That company uses Nitro or Yukon, both of which are good quality gears.

From what I see supercharging is the way to go.

    2.7 w/auto, 4WU 3 link, F & R Diamonds, ARB's F/R w/ Yukon 5.29's, Inchworm 4.7 Lefty, Deavers, ARB OBA, Schrockworks up front.
    What motor do you have?

I have the 2.7 w/ auto. It came with 4.30's and it was a friggin' slug... didn't need to use OD. This with the OEM 265x70x16's.
I went to 32's (265x75x16) and installed an ARB locker w/ 4.88's and it was awesome.
Next mod was a set of 33's (285x75x16) and I installed another ARB locker w/ 5.29's (sold the other)... even better.

Both sets of gears are Yukon... great service and the guys are cool to work with.

    Hope this helps you out.
