My wife and I have driven Toyotas for years. She has owned a couple of camry soloras, and on her second highlander. I have owned several tacomas over the years. We have always enjoyed our vehicles and have never had any major issues with any of them. I now own a 2016 TRDOR MGM. I have to say I love this truck also, but it is the first time that I catch myself trying to see if I can find something wrong with the truck since joining TW and seeing other peoples issues. I saw where one poster stated if you wanted to enjoy your truck stay off the internet. I am beginning to believe this.

I think it's true with whatever I own. Once I read or hear about a problem area with a lot of shit I own, I'm watching it for a few weeks for that problem.

I used to work with a guy on the towboats that was from Bath Springs, TN. and his nickname was "Cur Dog." Pretty nice fellow.

Although there are tons of helpful tips and info on on-line forums, unfortunately there are also a lot of people with too much time on their hands who create problems or issues that you would have never even known existed (because in reality, they really don't exist!).

Same thing happens on a lot of guitar forums. People gripe and whine and complain about the most mundane and insignificant things or deliberate and stress over different models based on what's written on a spec sheet and what some stranger tells them on the internet. It was way easier when I was a kid and there was no internet. You basically picked up a guitar and if you liked how it sounded and played, you bought it. You made your own decisions and choices and didn't second guess yourself based on what the internet "experts" tell you. With that said, I'm going to actually get off the internet and go use my truck to get me to the harbor and go for a nice paddle.

    Ignorance can be bliss...

I'd rather just be informed though and deal with anything that comes up.

Some people get crazy over little things. It's only an issue if you make it an issue. Being that my truck is under warranty I don't see any issues I can't handle.

I can assure you that the 2016 Tacoma won't be the first car the Toyota dealerships have ever had in the service bays. Believe it or not, Toyotas have had issues in the past.

Do you need to know, or care?
Second Toyota I've owned. First was a '13 Tacoma LTD, loved that truck and now love the new one. Have had many vehicles from many manufacturers, but definately happy with the quality I've gotten from Toyota. Have had none of the issues listed on this site. It's still new, so we'll see, but as said here, it's under warranty so won't cost me a thing to get it fixed. Worst vehicle of my life...'99 Dodge Dakota, never again will I have a Dodge!
Wife drives a '14 Mazda 3, she has driven Mazda's for years and I can attest to the quality of that model, never had a warranty claim on any of them. This is her 3rd.

I tend to believe that Tacoma owners have by nature less tolerance for issues with their vehicles. We might be more of the neurotic perfectionist types that demand (appreciate) better quality and reliability in our vehicles (since we're used it), as opposed to, say, GM die-hards who think reliability is just having the key turn over every morning. I'd also like to think that our expectations drive Toyota to (try to) maintain their quality. Forums, especially this one, are a really good resource for information from everyday users, but they can also amplify issues that may be extremely rare.

Nothing is perfect, but even if you're having issues you can find some solace in that you're in the #1 vehicle for resale value. Drive it and enjoy it.

This is my first Toyota and my Taco is absolutely perfect at 6500 miles.

I have gotten plenty of tips and advice, and I have bought many accessories based on recommendations of great people in this forum

So the engine lugging and slight vibration in the steering was what made me find this site in the first place. Had I no issues to research and learn about, I probably would not have an account here or even lurk...

But now I'm hooked!! And despite my issues, still like the truck!

I don't know man - I found Old Man Emu, Wet Okole, @KB Voodoo, @G Tek Fab , @ImMrYo and other great upgrades on TW. I think I'm getting the most out of my Tacoma because of this site. Tonnes of help with maintenance, repairs, installs etc if you are remotely handy or even own a leatherman.

Just know that if you drove a POS domestic if would be loose and rattling and 50% depreciated within a couple years.
