I think the more important thing to ask is what you want to do? If you take whatever is available, you will be looking for something else in a year or two. Once the luster of a new job wears off and you have to drag your ass out of bed every morning, you want the content of the job to be there, not just a paycheck.

Man I hear everyone say this but, and having been in the working world a while, job security & pay/benefits package have to be in the equation.

Welding can bring good money. My uncle started working for a local structural steel company in high school. He retired after 40 years there. No degree, never worked anywhere else. He made good enough money to retire in his 50s and is quite comfortable now.

Oh it is definitely something to consider - If you want to be a painter and you end up as an underwriter for insurance, then its time to weigh how OK you are with what you are doing vs. the pay and benefits package.

    Just a facet to consider.

Doesn't FedEx offer tuition assistance? Use that to get your A&P & be an aircraft mechanic. I hear it's a quick course & FedEx can't hire them fast enough. Also hear FedEx hires from within & the pay is > $100k a year...????

Quit one of those jobs and start a landscaping/ tree service. When business is good enough quit the other job. Best decision I ever made!

Trying to get on the rail road hire is ideal.. But that's when there hiring. Been trying since I was 21. Hard to find full time with benefits and 401k or pension. Etc. LR fire department had been my main goal since high school but since iv been 21 they only did one hiring class which I got all the way to the interview but did not go any further. We'll continue for lrfd until I can't anymore.
