So what about 2009-up? Do they have a similar problem?

Did anyone try to trade in at the dealer, when they failed it? Get a new vehicle... let them deal with the frame nonsense, broken parts, technician negligence, etc...

No reason value should be changed... if they do such good work, it's a new frame, well worth it for them.

While a valid point, it might be against the rules that Toyota has laid out for the frame swaps. Strictly speaking from a theoretical point of view, of course, since I have no reference to their rules.

My expectation is that if there was some consistent allowance for trade-in of rotted frame vehicles, there might end up being a glut of used vehicles on the market, OR, they might not be able to keep up with the demand for new ones, blocking new truck buyers from getting them in a reasonable time.

From Toyota's point of view, I think it is probably most efficient to fix the truck first, and then allow a trade-in once there is less incentive.

On top of that, if you consider the age of the vehicle -- 2005-2008 is 7-10 years old now. Those are getting up there in age and might be starting to go bad mechanically or in the body shortly, which could mean that they will start being replaced via crushers shortly anyway, regardless of their having a new frame. That means keeping the assembly lines working at a more normal rate and spreading out new truck purchases in a more natural manner.

If they devalue the truck, based on their junk frames, then they really don't stand behind their products or service

Most likely, since its the same people and the same process. Metalsa bought Dana frame manufacturing. So its not like this is totally different company making frames. 2009 is just makign around 6 year mark, so complete failures should start after that winter.
Where are I am 2009 frames look as bad as others. so be prepared that 2009+ will end up wit hthe same issue. Also since there is no longer Dana to cover the cost, if your frame fails on 2009+ you are on the hook for it.
It costed Toyota $13K to swap my frame. I doubt you will be willing to spend that much on the frame.

I had Toyota send me a new letter. Got it last week. No mention of the CRC campaign in the letter. Mine simply states they will inspect the frame, if perforation is found they will determine an appropriate remedy...this makes no sense to me, apparently the salt Utah uses is less corrosive than in the other areas they are coating the frames...(shrugs shoulders). I still plan to have mine inspected, and will then coat it myself in the spring so I know it is done right...wasn't sure I wanted Toyota's CRC applied anyway after seeing some of the sloppy jobs done on other members trucks in this thread.

Hmm so they did not bother extending that... Interesting. Thats 3 months away.

I think few dealers did that, but I think in general Truck had to have a owner to be eligible for frame swap.

Yep, I plan to take mine in the first week of March, we are usually through the worst of our winter, road salt season by then.

I am considering this option since dealer #1 wants $200 to install new shocks and coilovers. (also wanted $800 for front 5100's with Eibachs, parts only)

Take pictures around the truck before you drop off. I realized I should have done it.... just to remeber which digs were mine which ones are new.

My truck has been back at the dealership since yesterday. After the issue with the unsecured coolant hose, the check engine light lit up and stayed on. Today they called and said that for some reason the fuel filler neck area has a crack and is generating a code, so since the truck didn't have that problem when I brought it in, they are taking care of it free of charge...

I have it all in my head. Been contemplating this moment for a few months and was ready when I brought the truck in. Gave them new shocks and other bits with clear instruction. We'll see what extras they try to hit me up for. They gave me a crapolla, which I already HATE. Almost ripped the front bumper off getting up my steep driveway. o_O

Just picked my Tacoma up from the dealership. They did the frame replacement and a new clutch in 3 days. Drove it home with no problems. Will look it over real good when the rain stops. The service writer told me they give a one year unlimited mileage warranty on all their work (just as long as you can prove they are responsible:confused::rolleyes:).
