I have a 2006 Tacoma reg cab 5 speed and I learned how to drive manual in this truck, so it has had its fair share of stalls.

But this morning I stalled it twice (a combination of missing sleep and not paying attention) and I noticed, while driving on my way to school and on my way home, whenever I press the clutch and the brake in it makes a weird scraping noise (almost like I'm dragging something made of metal).

I also notice this noise when I am accelerating in first gear. Every other gear it sounds just fine.

Finally, I notice this noise when I press solely on the clutch, and when I press solely on the clutch my truck actually starts to slow down (more than it would just coasting) almost as if the clutch hasn't totally disengaged.

Obviously it could be brakes but I've searched around and I've noticed the noise they describe when they have break problems only starts when they brake so I'm thinking my problem is different.

Please if you have had experience with this or might know what it is, I need your help!!

Does it pull at all right or left? Saying you could have a caliper piston that is sticking causing slight pressure on the brake all the time.

Jack up the front and spin the wheel by hand and see if you have excessive drag on one side.

Granted it could also be the clutch not disengaging ( engine braking ). Drive and then place the transmission in neutral and see if it still drags.

Thank you, I have to go somewhere around seven so I'll try it coasting in neutral on my way there and see what happens.

It has been a really busy week but I finally got a chance to lift her up and see what is wrong, turns out my front driver side brake caliper is partially seized up and the pad is worn down to the metal. Just got to get new pads, rotors, and possibly new caliper.

I would get a new calipers and replace both of them.

The old one is probably corroded due to water in the fluid ...

and if one caliper is corroded they both probably are...

    Then flush the brake lines...
