I'd go ahead and upgrade the pump, the stock pump isn't going to be enough for the box and hydro assist. Another option is swapping in an F150 steering box, pretty sure Addicted Offroad has used them and loves them. Gearing wise something in the 5.xx range would be a little better. If I were you I'd look for a 14 bolt swap in the rear, 8 lug outer's, then re-gear to 5.13-5.38's. That swap will get you prepared for the inevitable Dana 60 swap:cool:. Another option is to run 5.38's up front and 5.29's in the rear, not ideal but it'll work. The noise/vibration issue could be a few things, best thing is try and pinpoint the noise. Along with a visual test and shake rotational stuff.

Yeah, I'm thinking that in a handful of years this will end up linked on one tons and 40s with lower gears when it's no longer a daily driver.

IFS shouldn't prohibit you from joining in. Unless you friends have some crazy rules to try and exclude you :D

I thought you were talking capability-wise. I agree though, better in SA that's why my 85 is getting a refresh.

Honestly after my fully hydro kit that im $1,700 into if i had to do it all again i would by a kit from Howe. Don't get me wrong PSC builds good stuff but when the pump was crap right out of the box and they wouldn't warranty it. Told me it could have been my fault that the pump would randomly loose assist and then get it back even though buying a new one proved them wrong.

    Ouch, that sucks.

I have a surplus center ram and TG pump. I was skeptical on the TG pump but I haven't had an issue yet after 10 months.

I'm running the stock 3.4 pump with hydro assist and a PSC 1.5"x8" ram. Im on 35's with a detroit locker up front and the stock pump handles everything fairly well. At a dead stop, I can turn the wheel with very little effort, but if you are at speed going down a trail or the road then the steering is slower in response. Not dangerous or anything, but its something that I had to get use to. Ideally, an upgraded pump would be the better option but you can definitely get by on the stock pump.

Rebuilding/drilling/tapping the IFS steering box is a piece of cake. I've done two of them with instructions that I have found on various websites and never ran into any issues at all, and it only takes a couple hours to do, if you take your time.

I guess I sort of was, can't really baby an ifs rig through the rubicon. Better in my mind to have N over built, over capable rig that you can "baby" as I'm not a skinny pedal beat on my shit driver. It will continue to be my DD
