    8 psi is just a number floating around. But yeah the afr gauge will tell you how hard you can run that guy. I just upped the boost until I hit mid 11s afr as my highest point.

    Before the afr gauge I only ran 5psi because I didn't know what was going on. It just a peace of mind because every motor is a little different.

    Look into the innovative scg-1. It's an ebc, wideband all in one. Afr and boost gauge. What I'm running.

    The reason I'm so set on a specific number is because I'm running an external wastegate so I have to pick a spring. With an electronic boost controller does the spring really matter since it's changing the pressure that the wastegate sees anyways?

    I would just run at a safe number like 5 pounds and see what happens and adjust from there. Thats what I'm going to do.

    What fuel mods (injector size, fuel pump) and piggyback where you running with 5 psi? I plan on just starting there and maybe staying for awhile if no need for piggyback or bigger fuel pump and injectors. I'll be getting an afr guage either way.

    Cool. So if I'm understanding correctly that will get me to my 7-8 psi goal on the stock ecu and to bump to 12psi I'd need a fuel management solution, and bigger injectors?

    I had pinks, no tuning, no afr gauge, and walbro fuel pump. It was running rich, but I didn't know what was going on

    So the stock fuel system and ecu won't handle it? Does it make a difference I have a 5vz?

    Maybe slightly lower since you are a bigger engine 6-7. 12 going to need at least 440cc injector. I'm maxing my pinks out at 9psi, but that is with a tune because I can log afr.

    Stock ecu will handle it. Do the fuel pump for sure.

    Im just wondering if I will need bigger injectors at 5 psi. And it would probably be more efficient if I had a piggyback to tune instead of using the stock ecu only right?

    I haven't tried it but I've heard that is how far the stock injectors go. You get that itch to go past 5psi real quick. I swear by those pink injectors because it is right when that turbo feels fun.

    Ya probably. It would just save money so I wouldn't have to spend a lot all at once. Or I could do some searching for used stuff.

    $100 for some pinks you won't regret for low power boost. It's a good cheap power mod. The stock ecu is very friendly with them.

    Spring is for the minimum pressure. Boost can go way over it. An ebc adjusts after you reach your minimum spring pressure. Also, make sure you get a good wastegate. Either precision ot tial. Do not skimp on that.

    Is a oil cooler necessary before turbo? What about if it's water cooled as well?

    Water and oil is better but not necessary. If it's a dd, + water is better. I have water and oil. No need to use a turbo timer that way or let idle before shut off. No need for an oil cooler either but it wouldn't hurt any. 100% need to run an intercooler.

    Thank you. Plan is run oil and water. Will be using an intercooler also. Think I will switch to pink injectors, run a 5psi wastegate spring, no piggyback, see what afrs are like. Just wonder if I will need to upgrade fuel pump? If so how many lph?
