How in the world would they know what a resale value of a 2016 Tacoma would be? Has there even been one sold in the aftermarket?

probably looking at market trends, combined with previous years reliability and sales data.

Projected by KBB, per the article:

"KBB predicts the average 2016 vehicle will retain only 35% of its original value after five years. But some models hold on to their value longer than others."

you're prob right... which makes it complete BS. I love my Tacoma, and have no doubt that it has great resale value, but until real data points become available, I think naming it best in class is kinda horse shit at this point.

Yeah, it's too early to tell what the resale value is going to be. However in the past Tacomas has held its resale value especially here in Hawaii. I sold my '06 trd off-road 4x4 w/ 150k miles for $17k.

My friend told me when I was selling my truck, to look up the kbb excellent rating (even if your truck is in good condition) and add 10% if it's a 4x4.

In December 2014, I bought my 2014 Tacoma, certified used with 12k miles on it for $27,000. It already had a lift with 33" tires on it, viper remote start, tinted windows, and weathertech floor mats in it. I traded that truck in on November of 2015 for my 2016. At trade in, my 2014 had 25k miles on it, and they gave me $27,000 for it. Tacomas hold their value like no other, and I cant find any reason why it will change for the worse with the 3rd gen trucks.

Resale was a big reason that I pulled the trigger on a new Trail versus going used.

good lookin 4runner. I think I would have gone with that dark blue but that red is very nice. I seriously contemplated a 4runner over my 3rd gen but they're so much more money.

Really that much more? What model T4R, the limited? My TRD DCSBOR 4x4 cost about the same as my old lady's brand new 2016 SR5 Premium out the door.... she was able to get $1,000 under invoice for her runner and my taco came in at just under 40k out the door. I think her's might have been $500 less than mine actually.

White was my first choice, blue was second. Both were sold before I had word from the insurance company that the Rav4 was totaled. Trail Premium with KDSS was tough to find. The red has really grown on me, though.

My premium with KDSS, remote start, and some other accessories that I didn't want was a hair over $38k before tax, title, tag. I think sticker was around $42k.

I saw a fairly loaded up black trail edition at work. they put trd pro wheels and a trd pro grill in it, tinted the windows, and stuck it on the lot for $43,000. Even at my discount with all the accessories already on it, I was looking at upper $30's.

Sticker on the new one was $36,900. DCSB Trd Sport 4x4, premium and tech package, 6MT.

    Out the door for $34,500.

Yes, I know of one. Bought the truck then decided they wanted a substantial RV; needed a full size tow vehicle. Note : It sold immediately.
