I've been following wires and a lot of the harness runs through the sides too. So this is defiantly a challenge for me. Fingers crossed.

You have my blessing. I took my entire interior apart, lest the upper dash panel. I knew when to wave the white towel then throw it in.

So getting the broken screw out ended up being a lost cause. What we did was remove excess and get the surface flat and I'm gonna run with just 7 screws for now. The gasket is strong and with 7 well-torqued screws holding it in place, I'm not too worried. I'll be keeping an eye on it for now, obviously, and if any issues arise, we'll address the issue then.

On the plus side, my fuel pump and tank interior look fantastic.

Fairly certain the 8.4 still has an 8 inch ring gear... And seeing as how the ring gear is the weak point both axles are about the same. Yea the 8.4 has a bigger pinion but who cares when you eat the ring gear first... Buy which ever one is cheaper to install... But if you do an ARB may as well regear. If you don't need/want to regear why waste the money. The elocker is so much easier to service as it is external. They are both reliable.

I blew a few teeth off my 8" ring gear a couple years ago. Regeared with cromo gears and havnt broken them yet. But either way it's still a mini truck axle.

actually the 8.4'' does have a slightly larger ring. And is just a better setup diff with the rear carrier brace and much larger pinion bearings.

Idk. From what i have seen on here with others, seems more elockers explode then anything on here from all the trips ive been on and seen from others. They just seem to take the abuse better. But whatever.

    Reserected from the dead.

If it does leak in the future, just drill 2 holes on each side thru the flange and tank. Install 2 new, self tapping screws and never worry about it again.

Just got my headlights in. Very well built but the mounting bracket was damaged during shipping. Seller is going to issue an insurance claim. I just put superglue on it and it holds up well. Installing it tomorrow.

No but our good friend Jason has. And it is bigger.

Just slightly. I'll see if I can find the photo of it.

    @tacomatrd22, fixed it.
I always wanted one of those small versions of Johnny 5 that they had in the movie.

I found this in another thread. Jason posted it. I had to cut and paste it. I didn't know how to pull a quote from another thread.

"Meh...to me without pictures it's just another myth.

I still have a TRD ring gear in my garage. As I mentioned, it's a short hair less than 8", right arond 7 15/16. Yes, if you wanted to round it, you could round up and be at 8".

That said....here's a picture of toyota ring gears stacked up against an D44 8.5.

Front to back is IFS 7.5, 8.0, 8.4/8.25/T100/Tundra, and the rear is D44 8.5.

So although it's not very much bigger, I'm pretty sure it is bigger than the 8.0. And yes again if you wanted to round it and call it 8" you could, but I still think it's a little bigger than the TRD 8.0"

    OP....sorry for the thread derailment.
Ring gear sizes aside, I think Max and I will both agree the non-elocker third member is stronger than the elocker third."
