Lots of 3rd Gen Issues It Seems

I am seeing a big portion of the 3rd gen issues.

    - Lack of power at low RPM
    - Erratic Shifting
    - Harsh downshifting
    - Unusual vibrations at certain RPMs
    - Screaming RPM's on slight grades
    - Hood vibrations

Even a few posts of people's 2016's just completely shutting down. Hoping this is just 1st year growing pains. Just doesn't seem like the Toyota that I know.

I've had none of these issues. Perhaps they exist in very few cases and we only see it because these reports are amplified in a forum?

That could be the case. Hoping it is. I really want to stay loyal to Toyota.

No issues for me. Mine hauls on the freeway when you step on it, even when not in ECT mode, and every time I drive it it puts a big smile on my face. I've towed over 3,000lbs with it from Denver to the Bay Area and once I got used to the engine revving a little higher as it's designed to do it's been fine. Also doesn't seem to "hunt" around the gears as others have said. The fit and finish on mine is great as well. The factory Tonneau cover is stout and works wonderfully (although I'm taking it off only because I discovered I'd rather have a camper shell) and have no regrets.

Every vehicle, be it a new year, redesigned or not will have examples of problems and issues. Threads like these from people who don't even own a '16 are always being started for whatever reason. Either to troll or out of anger or disappointment, or they're either upside down in their current vehicle and can't afford a '16, so they have to rationalize trying to bring everyone else down who took the plunge and has one. Plus, on the whole grand scheme of things I bet it's safe to say that the number of owners on this forum are only a VERY small representation of people who own Tacomas. Most people aren't as passionate or have the time to waste on internet forums like the rest of us, so we really only represent a super small percentage of Tacoma owners. Most of the "issues" people are reporting are blown out of proportion and stirred up even more by the trolls and haters, when in reality most seem to be a simple fix, and easily covered under warranty (which is the whole point of the warranty!) And for the big issues that are rare occurrences (like the few vehicles that have just shut down on the side of the road) it seems like Toyota stepped up to the plate and has given at least one owner a brand new truck and another member's truck, although in the shop for a while was fixed to his satisfaction and he reports that he's happy with the outcome.

In today's world everyone wants everything done their way and we all think we're experts and know better than those who actually design the vehicles. In rare instances this may be true, but most of the time all us lay-people are doing is talking out of our arses. Also, Toyota seems to be selling the '16 Tacomas pretty well and they aren't sitting on the lots collecting dust, so that says something. So it's either consumers aren't doing their homework and are blindly going to the dealership and plunking down a chunk of cash for a truck they know is a piece of crap (which i doubt is the case) of they are actually doing their research and test driving and determining if the new Tacoma is spec'd to meet their individual wants and needs.

The theme that keeps popping up here though are the ones that aren't happy with the redesign. We get it. You don't like it. Nobody is making you like it. It's 2016 and you have more options for vehicles than there's ever been in the history of the automobile. Go find one that suits your needs best and buy that one and be happy instead of grumbling like a little bitch on a forum for a truck you don't even own! It's as simple as that. Do your homework and your research. Don't be the guy who goes out and buys the truck then later discovers it's not up to his expectations and intended needs, then goes online and blames it on the truck. It's virtually impossible to design truck to make 100% of the potential consumers happy. If that was the case there wouldn't be other manufacturers making trucks. And in order for a truck to excel at one specific task, it's going to have to suffer in another area. Everyone wants the fastest, most powerful, least expensive, largest but most maneuverable and fuel efficient truck, and if it doesn't live up to all those unreasonable expectations for whatever reason lots of guys on here seem to take it personal and think Toyota is out to get them! Personally I love it and keep the complaints coming. I was out of work the last week with a back injury and on pain killers and muscle relaxers stuck in bed, so all the complaints were pure entertainment for me! Now that I'm on the mend I intend to take full advantage of my issue-free '16 Tacoma and get outside and start playing again and using the truck for what I bought it for while the rest of you bitch and moan!

None of these issues here, too.

Only thing the wife doesn't like is where they moved the position of the grab handle.

    Another "can't afford a 2016" post?

Jesus fuck. What a sad and pathetic world.

I have a door rattle and my steering wheel wrap is bubbling in a small spot. I'm not sure I would consider these a problem. Being they will be fixed when I go in for service.

I too have had zero issues and I've even duty-tested her offroad early in her life... Fact of the matter, any new generation of any product will have bugs... its a risk we take as early adopters.

Mine is amazing. Not a single issue. Go to the beach and see a shark you tell 10,000 people. Go to the beach and have a good day, tell 2 people.

Almost all those "problems" could be avoided if you just bought a manual

Or read the manual that you pruchased with the truck. My problems aren't at all associated with ignorance of the transmission. Mine is what I would consider a major safety issue. I am one of the guys who had the truck shut down while driving 75mph down the highway. Butthole puckered up pretty good on that one. Been in the shop 23 days as of today.

NO problems at all, rides nice, everything works, no rattles or hums or bad vibes, shifts the way it is supposed to, entune and apps work, door locks work, good power, trailer package installed, LED's installed by dealer, yadi yada...

    TITS UP!

Except I have to wait till "mid January" to get my rear weather techs...

little over 1000 miles on mine and had it a week. It had 400 on it from dealer using it before I got it last Tuesday. No issues here as far as mechanical as of yet.
