Aside from this thread, what else are you using to come to this conclusion? Other third gen guys who have difficulty getting parts?

Just in general. Those waiting weeks or months on parts associated with frame replacements, those of us who have been waiting over a year for rear spring replacement, Etc.

Well there are over 700,000+ trucks waiting on spring replacement. So that is 1,400,000 springs that need to be manufactured by a spring supplier (not Toyota). Theres also a large amount of frames to manufacturer. 01-04 Tacoma frames (yes some of those are still being replaced if they meet special criteria), 03-07 Sequoias (campaign ended), 03-06 Tundras (campaign ended), and 05-09 Tacomas. 05-09 Tacomas get the revised leaf spring pack with the frame replacement, and those cases get priority for springs over people who do not have frame issues. So aside from the 700,000+ trucks that just need springs, theres tons more who need frames and springs, so the spring count is somewhere between 1,500,000-2,000,000 spring packs.

And I don't know what dealership you work with, however I personally have replaced probably 3-4 pairs of springs (not on frame replacements) on trucks already, and seen over a dozen pairs be done by others in the shop, and the official recall repair hasn't even begun yet.

As to parts being available for third gen trucks... How dare Toyota?! Nevermind the thousands of people still waiting on third gen trucks they ordered but haven't received, Toyota can go fuck themselves for not having warehouses upon warehouses of third gen parts in stock ready to go, right???

    /sarcasm

But seriously, there's some validity to what I said.

    My 2016 Tacoma: 2,200mi, 0 problems
    My 2014 Tacoma: 25,500mi, 0 problems
My 1998 Camry: 311,xxxmi, still all original drivetrain and runs like a top
Within my family, there is a 2004 Rav4, another 1998 Camry, a 2011 Sienna, and within my group of friends there is a 2010 Highlander, a 2007 Camry, a 2008 Camry, and probably more I can't think of at the moment.

    No one has complaints.

Clearly Toyota will be the one to get crucified, but frames and springs were a supplier issue. It's not determined why there was an issue with the OP's truck.

Their quality must not be too terrible if you're buying them. Along with a large chunk of the American population, or the world. They're frequently in the top 3 for worldwide auto sales.

    ok test mouse? test bunny?
Honestly, what I am saying is I would NOT be happy to buy a new truck & have it sitting at a dealership for a month.
I hope it really works out for him & Toyota gives him a great Christmas Card.
But it's not my truck so honestly I'm out.

I've listed various vehicles Toyota has built that haven't had issues, because apparently people on this site feel the need to repeatedly buy Toyotas, then bitch about their quality. Then go buy another one after bitching about the quality. Hurry up and buy an F150 already.

You do realize you are posting in the thread that somebody had multipel severe issues with brand new vehicle.
And that You wrote there are 700 000 vehicles with spring issues but than claim you have 3 random vehicles with no issues therefore there are no issue.

Before you hit replay.... pause it, think about this one for a second .... :D
BTW F150 is much nicer truck than 2016 Tacoma.... That ecoboost engine is super nice that's why Ford is selling like 5 times more of them than Toyota selling Tacoma's so I would probably not crap on them ....

Well, after 35 long days I finally picked my truck. I still don't have a complete workup of what has been done. If I remember everything correctly the following items were replaced: the fuse box and complete fuse assembly, the wiring harness, the main computer, the instrument cluster panel and associated computer, the speed sensors, and the catalytic converters. The paperwork can't be completed until some parts codes are added. Should be in the next day or so. Once I get the paperwork I will update with the details. Either way truck seems to be running fine. I will be making a 617 mile round trip in it over the next few days so we will see how it acts. Toyota is reimbursing my first truck note for my inconvenience.

does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
Sounds like a reasonable outcome as long as these things fix issue. Good luck on the road trip.

OP...I'm sorry ur having to go thru this...BUT there is NO WAY in hell I would take that truck home...I would light them up like a candle and demand they give me a new truck....I'd tell them to put in on the used car line and put a big note on it saying everything they supposed to have fixed and see if anyone would buy it! NO WAY anyone would....U have WAY more patience than I do...I hope it works out for u GOOD LUCK!
