The problem is finding a service dept. that will let you watch. I like to see what they are putting in my engine.

Ahh, good ol service department voyeurism. If you don't trust what they're putting in your engine without visual verification, you probably shouldn't be taking your truck there. Where I work, the oil is stored in a separate, back storage room in bulk tanks. I take my oil jug over, dispense what I need, then return to my stall to refill the engine. Even if there was a viewing area, you wouldn't see what I dispensed into my oil jug. For all you know, I could have peed in it. However since you brought your vehicle to us, obviously there is some level of trust right off the bat.

I caught this guy that runs a little garage where I used to live filling up empty 10-30 Pennzoil bottles from a 55 gallon barrel of bulk oil. I always take my own oil and filter and watched him change it.

Damn. I was hoping you were going to tell me you worked in an office cubical all day long or something to that effect, to which I would have asked "What if your employer announced they were going to set up cameras in the office so customers can log in to our website and watch all of you work all day long?"

Where am I going with this? Not everyone prefers to be stared at like a zoo animal in captivity while they work. I do a fair amount of fucking off at work (like right now, imagine that), however nothing I do compromises the delivery time of a customers car, nor the safety of the customer nor their car. So I would not enjoy having a shop viewing section lol.

I specfically asked and was told any Toyota dealer including Canada. I drive once/twice year up to Fort Mac in Alberta. Warranty and Care is covered at any Toyota dealership. I also have a coupon/maintenance book as well.

I asked as well, they said YOU MUST come here for all service or it's not covered.

    Never saw that brochure.

Was never told about road side assistance.

    coupon/maintenance book????

You do not need a coupon or maintenance book... everything is tied to your VIN number and can be looked up by Toyota dealerships via internal websites we have access to. Vehicle owners aren't even issued such books, as everything is stored and looked up electronically by dealers.

just remember what ever you say to corporate about issues is usually recorded/annotated verbatim for when they go to arbitration. what you say can be twisted to Toyota's benefit.

funny how an article about this very issue came out today.... let me see if I can find it.

interesting... are you sure it was toyotacare? did you buy a maintenance plan when you bought your truck, possibly through an aftermarket company like JM&A?

With these new trucks being synthetic, Toyota specified maintenance is as I described. So if your dealer set you up with an oil change and said it was one of your freebies by ToyotaCare, they are shooting themselves in the foot, and will not get paid by Toyota, which is not your problem lol.

Yes, I will take a picture of it later if you want, it is in the truck glove box. I am pretty sure it is just for the owner to tell them when the services are due. I was told the VIN number of my Taco will let the dealership know what packages/warranties I have so that they can be honored at various Toyota dealerships.

no need but thank you. talked to another dealer nearby they said the same
as another here that it's the VIN. It's like I find out something new everyday that
the dealer was full of shit about.

It's a shame... That is the kind of shit that gives all dealerships a bad name. As a dealership employee, it sucks. I've left dealerships because of their shady practices and not wanting to be associated with that. But it hurts the industry. Theres lots of good, honest folk out there.
