The only squirrel around here worth pusuit is the Abert's. Our little red squirrels are tiny, but the Abert's are worthy.2015-12-16_12-27-13.jpg 2015-12-16_12-22-50.jpg

As for snipe, they are small but along our waterways, you are lucky if you can shoulder the gun fast enough to get a shot off before they zip out of sight!

Those are funny looking tree rats haha. We don't have squirrels like that where I live. Do you eat them? I would like to try someday but the only ones eatable are the red ones and they are a bit small, would need a bunch of them to make a good lunch haha

Haha, nice! They frown on transporting like that here. Supposed to be inconspicuous.

that last picture is outstanding! Dumb question is that a counter weight or something on your barrel? Never seen one before. And I'm with you on being trickier to hunt.

As for me Ive ate them multiple times, you just have to know how to cook them so they don't taste like a chunk of rubber. but as of lately the dogs get them(cooked of course). Its just too much work if you don't get enough for a meal to prep and save them. The dogs know when I come home that they are getting a treat and there excitement is well worth it.

Squirrel is a great food source. Like rabbit, it can be tough if not we'll prepared. Best method by far is to just toss them in a pressure cooker with a well seasoned chicken stock and cook them for about 20 to 30 minutes at pressure. The meat will be falling off the bones. You can make the stock into a gravy, or add vegetables for a soup, or just freeze the stock until the next batch.

That's a sweet set up! I am looking into the Avid guard, glad it seems to work well.

Lucky, our season doesn't start for a couple more weeks. When I get my Tacoma done I'll post some pictures because I'm building it to be my hunting rig.
