Yea, I have the flat backstrap on my FNS and the grip is a lot like a 1911. Glocks are pretty close too when you flatten out the hump in the back of the grip. All of the major poly guns are reliable, so it's really just which do you shoot best. Idk why people care about anything else other than reliability and accuracy when it comes to a defensive gun.

Agreed. Everyone I know that has one talks them up like they are the greatest thing invented. Then you go shooting with them and they can't hit the broad side of a barn at ten paces and the excuses start flowing. "Well, it's reliable!" "Well, at defensive distances it's fine!" etc. I'm not a pistol guy at all, however. If the accuracy isn't at least as good as my worn out 20 year old Ruger mark 2 it's just not interesting to me.

That sounds like you're/they're blaming the gun and not the shooter...
Accuracy with a Glock isn't an issue if you're an accurate shooter. For instance:

This^ Somebody left a pan (~10in across) hanging at a local shooting spot, just for kicks i shot at it with my g26 and g21 from around 35yards, hit it nearly every shot with little trouble. Not exactly scientific but definately harder than hitting the broad side of a barn

All this talk about hating Glocks, and I just picked up my first one today Glock 27.

I don't care for the way the older Glocks feel, but loved their trigger pull. But, with this gen 4 Glock 27 I love the grips, and even threw on the large beaver tail to make it feel a little thicker. Time will tell which grip I end up sticking with for shooting, they come with 4 different ones haha

To be fair that is most people who half assedly shoot. Handguns are hard to shoot well, it takes practice. People get frustrated when they shoot with me and i just say shoot a couple times a month and you will be good. But they don't ever, they just like the idea of John mclaining their way out of something without ever practicing shooting.

I guess in short, it's not the gun, in fact there are very few inaccurate hand guns, just shooters.

Haha I've heard that a couple times, of course. I try not to get into the whole .40 vs 9mm debate. Get what you want and as long as you can hit your target with it then it's the right choice. Without getting into all the other details.

My G21 and my G30 (subcompact) both shoot equal patterns at 25 yards to my Kimber TLE RL 2, Les Baer TRS, and a borrowed Springfield Professional. All .45 ACP, and all targets look identical, you couldn't pick out the G30 out of the group if you tried.

Both are great. I like my shield a lot. They are extremely controllable for such a small gun. That is one point where I do vary from Glock. Glock jacked us around too long on the single stack, plus they charge way too much.

Ive shot the xdm and find it enjoyable, but i think a smaller framed gun would be easier for me to cc. Havent shot the s or shield, but the shield felt great to hold

I had a shield for a while and now have an xds. Love both guns. Actually got rid of the shield to get the xds. Kind of wish I would have been able to just keep both. Prob like the trigger a little better on the shield. However I am personally more accurate with the xds, may have something to do with the barrel being 3.3 instead of the shield at 3.1, idk. I also like the grip better on xds, as well as the fact that it has a little rail slot to mount a flashlight easily. Just my .02 but they are both great carry guns. Really just boils down to personal pref, I would encourage holding/checking out both in person if not shooting both before you buy.

I sold my FNS-9 during the rush too. If I had to pick a polymer pistol other than a Glock it would be a PPQ. I shoot my old 19 better than others, but it might be because of familiarity. I've tried all the others (except a P320), but I always come back home to Glock. I recently traded the VP9 in this pic for a NIB gen4 G19.

Nothing beats carrying safety off, DAO with a chambered round on a hammer fired weapon.
