So who out there cooks with Dutch ovens? Also where and how have you aquired them? i.e family, store, garage sale.
My collection consists of a 3 generation Wagner 10" deep, silver in color and a awesome coating in it, 12" Lodge with the legs underneath,12" frying pan with lid, 16" Caphalon griddle, smooth on one side and ridges on the other, 10" deep Wagner a little shallower than the Silver one. These old style ovens are damn fun to use and a great camping addition. Even use them at home a lot.

I got a 10" deep w/legs from lodge a couple of months ago. So far I've used it once on a camping trip to make peach cobbler.

Use to cook on 12 or 14" dutch ovens when I was in boy scouts.

Gumbo. Works well for the roux, and retains plenty of heat to cook the shrimp without having it on the stove.

    back to bone stock.
i have a high end dutch oven. from france...le crueset or something. i tossed the slow cooker because of it. it is truly my workhorse. it goes from stove top to oven and i crank out the best slow cooking.

i want a cast iron LODGE one for deep frying. but my lame kitchen is very limited in space. i have nowhere to store one.

How did you come about this oven? From family or store. Most of mine are from family but a couple of lodges from the store. Walmart sells lodge around here.
Camping this week with them and did an awesome Enchilada casserole in it last night.

I'm frying suasage in my 12" Dutch over as I type this. Going to make Granny Smith Breakfast: http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82607

I also have an 8" Dutch oven. Both are Lodge with the lids that have ridges to hold charcoal. I got the 12" at Gander Mountain. I traded my old 12" DO for the 8" with my son.

Later tonight I'll be putting a turkey on the smoker. Tomorrow I'll carve it and pack it into the 12" DO for transport to the in-laws for Thanksgiving dinner.

    They're awesome.
