Here's my 887s with bilstein set at the second notch and a Deaver aal in back. Got 1.5 ish in back and about 3 up front. It sits almost level. Front is about quarter or half inch lower. Good luck with your set up

Why did you preload the shock when you are getting the lift from the coil?

because i didn't get 3 inches from the coil, i got 1.75-2 of lift on my truck, maybe others will be different but i had to go up a notch to get 3 inches

Are the 887 coils stiffer than 885's and 886's?

    How's the ride?

I think spring rate is same as 885 just a bit longer to give you more lift. 886 are for heavier applications. It rides fine. I would have liked to get 3 inches from the 887s at 0 but it wasn't happening.

So excuse me if the question is in here somewhere but I've gone through about 20 pages and can't seem to find why you wouldn't want to set your bilsteins to 2.5 setting? I know everyone says it's not the "best option" but I believe if I order the bilsteins now set to 2.5 and install. I can set them down to 1.75 or .85 when I do the spindle lift in the future and regear. Sorry for the newb question but this is my first Tacoma and I'm loving it but it's a lot different from the full size fords I'm used to lifting. I'm sorta on a budget and don't want to go crazy just yet unless there is an exact reason to not set the bilsteins to 2.5 I'm used to straight axle leaf sprung fords so ride doesn't affect me to say the least.

Putting them on that setting increases the 'preload' (I know people say this is the wrong term and I tend to agree but I don't know of a better word for it:)) which gives it, what some consider, a stiffer ride.

I actually feel like the truck is to soft right now, so I might like that a little better actually. I just wanted to make sure I would still be able to align it and have some (even if slight down travel). I don't need to flex or anything as I don't off-road it. Except the dirtroads I frequent for hunting and riding.

You'll be able to align it just fine. There are a lot of people that run them like that.

What are you going to run in the rear with 2.5 up front?

Before I add anything I'm gonna pull measurements with the front installed and see what it will take to put it +1 in the front which might be how it sets with stock rear but I might have to come up 1" in the rear. Any suggestions on that? I've heard of the 1.5" aal but I want it slightly higher in the front. Also I'm not sure on tire size I have the 2.7 so I don't know if it can handle a 285 without gears.

05: Big Tires, Big Black Wheels, Leveled and raised a couple inches, Extra leaf in the back 16: Stock. For now.
I'm getting ready to level/lift my 16 Limited with 5100's (front and rear), Pro Comp wheels, BFG AT KO2's (265/70/17)'s, and the Icon add-a-leaf pack. I was quoted $3740 for all of the above, but that seems a bit high to me, with about $1000 of the total coming from labor:
    • $140 mount/balance tires
    • $100 transfer TPMS sensors
    • $325 install front 5100's
    • $105 install rear 5100's
    • $325 install Add-A-Leaf

Does this seem a bit steep for labor, or am I crazy?

Also, I'm only looking to add a maximum of a couple of inches of lift while leveling the rake (or slightly lower in the front). I have a Snugtop Rebel on order and am wondering what I should set the 5100's to. My understanding is that the AAL will add about 2 inches before the cap is installed. The guy at the shop recommended maxing the 5100's at 2.5", but I'm concerned that may be too much. Anybody have a similar setup?
I was also told that Bilstein hasn't tested the 5100's on the 16 Tacomas yet, so they're not sure they'll work. However, it seems like several people on this board are running them without an issue.
