    16.8 for me. At work I see people anywhere from 14-19. Seen one guy at like 21 before. What pisses me off is how many 5 L's come in and average better than what I'm getting. My buddy averages about 12 with his. Dropped with his new tires, intake and throttle body spacer I put on for him

    well I just filled up again and had mine one week now little over 1000 on odometer and I am overall average 21.6. I was at 23.3 before the lot stronger winds this week. That is 85% hyw doing between 72 and 65 on hyw. Speed limit on half the way to work is 70 the other half 65. My 15 Tundra same run would be at 14.5 with winter fuel. I traded it in on this one. I was thinking id average 19 to 20 so I am really happy with the mpg

    According to fuelly:

    2015 ecoboost 2.7 - 18.3mpg
    2015 ecoboost 3.5 - 16.6 mpg

    Doesn't seem all that bad considering they have 50hp and 100torque over a Tacoma.

    I really hate when people try to pump toyotas tires without fact checking first.

    Toyota trucks have always and continue to offer worst in class fuel economy. But the reliability is second to none.

    To be fair to all... using the first tank of fuel for a proper mileage statement isn't the most accurate argument. The motor mechanical components won't be helping you out with any additional fuel savings but the trucks cpu will start learning your driving habits. Small changes is timing/fuel delivery and shift changes will help in to making your truck more efficient with the way you drive..... OR IF YOU ARE LIKE ME.... My truck has adapted to my foot to the floor method and stiffened my shift changes/power delivery for maximum ass hauling. Who cares about mpg. Buy a Prius losers.

    On a long flat highway using the cruise control in 6th gear with 1000 miles on the odometer here is what the Eco app and the dash meter said:

    60 and 65mph > 28mpg
    70mph > 23mpg
    75mph > 21mpg
    80mph > 18mpg

    From photo number one to number 3 you drove a total of 17 miles (283-266) and your tank shows as full from 275-283. If I filled up and then only drove 17 miles i could make that display read 25 MPG or 10 MPG based on if I filled up at the station at the top of the hill or the bottom of the hill. Try running an entire tank before you judge what your mileage actually is.

    Fuel economy is directly related to How one drives the truck. A lot of people are not happy with the acceleration. That tells me these people are stepping into the gas at every opportunity expecting a faster vehicle, I have not had occasion to go WOT in the tacoma. I drive it like a limo with a glass of wine on the dashboard and get 21-22 around town. Like the Gen 2 , if you step into it , fuel economy will be terrible. If one runs with ECT on they can expect worse Fuel economy. Cannot have a lead foot and get 21 MPG in these rigs

    I started enjoying my truck a lot more when I quit focusing on the mpg.

    I guess there MIGHT be a grain of truth to the "breaking in". Maybe.

    image.jpg
    Question is, did my truck "broke in", if thats the word. Same driving style, speed and route. Past 300 miles, the mpg jumped to 17.7

    I saw a sudden improvement in MPG at around 700 miles, I think.

    You have driven twenty miles since your last photo (odometer at 303). I will attempt again to explain. You can not tell an accurate mileage after that few miles. Give it a couple complete tanks. And compare the complete tanks to each other.

    I'm averaging 18mpg in hilly Seattle in mostly city driving. 500 miles so far, seems consistent, though. Highway I look to get around 20@70mph, better if I slow down.

    again what I said was the mpg you get and what is stated is not even close to what ford promotes for mpg. ford specs for mpg :

    2.7 = 19-26
    3.5 = 18-25

    I have approx. 4500 ,I'm averaging 20.5 on trips ,nothing above 65 mph. If you drive like eggshells under your foot you can squeeze a few more. Easy on gas when starting from stops ,I don't use cruise for most trips,I can get better w/o.
    Also the best mileage has been with no a/c or heat on.

    Just out of curiosity. TRD Sport and TRD OR have the same engine but I wonder if there are actual real- life difference in fuel consumption assuming same driving conditions, style, road conditions and fuel type.

    I agree. Thats why I said"might", "maybe". I'm waitng until my 5th tank.

    Talked to the head tech/specialist at the local dealer and he said any car engine still needs to break in.

    Oh well...

    you are forgetting all the people who test drove it pedal to the medal. it resets the tank avg every time you fill up. it also estimates less than you are actually getting usually.
