Yeah, that's what other have said due to it being so low on the engine. I know for sure my power steering pump is making a ton of noise, making it hard to know exactly if there is a pulley causing a separate noise.

I'm hoping that, if it is a pulley, that it's just the idler pulley. Can't buy just the a/c pulley as far as I know....
Yup, some much needed love that I should have started 2 years ago... Haha

Making myself do it now so I can actually go on a trip next Spring/Summer. Got plenty of comp days saved up already!

    Thanks, douche :p

Didn't start out well so far. Had to stay at work 2 hours after shift so now I'm going to spend the rest of the day sleeping until it's back to work all over again tonight.

If the PS is making noise it's likely the pump. I took my res off to clean it but it didn't fix shit until I replaced the pump. Pretty easy job too. Easy way to test is take the ac belt off see if you can hear a change in the noise. Can even take the PS belt off if you want but I wouldn't run it long since it's the belt for the fan too (at least for the manual).

Yeah, I'm hoping cleaning it out fixes all the noises up front. Doubt it though... Haha

Cleaned out the power steering pump screen. Wasn't that clogged up at all, so I'm guessing I'm going to have to replace the pump to get rid of the whine.

Also did a power steering fluid flush and replaced the belts.

Was going to do the deck plate mod to the airbox, but found out the chuck for the hole saw is too big for my little Black & Decker drill. Good excuse to buy a new drill haha

Is it really worth doing the deckplate though? Seems like a PITA if you see a decent amount of water.

And yeah that was my situation too. Got an A1 Cardone reman from rock auto and it's nice and quiet now.

Eh, some have said it does feel a little better. I want to say there's is a dyno chart for a 3.4L 4runner somewhere. I figured since I was taking out the airbox to work on other stuff, I might as well do it being just a $15 part.

Good to know. Not looking forward to removing the pump again haha

It's always easier the second time around. I just removed the res the first time I tried to do what you did. Make sure you crack the pulley bolt while it's still in the truck unless you have an impact. I had an impact so I zipped it right off. Same could be said about the res bolts too though.

Yeah, took me 4 hours to learn how the adjustment bolts work on the pulleys, remove the pump, clean it, and reinstall everything with new belts. Mostly because I kept tightening one bolt making another not be able to go in... Haha

I'd have to look at the FSM again but I thought that in replacing the magnetic clutch assembly, it included the pulley. But that really doesn't come cheap.

My engine bay is the quietest it's ever been.

Cleaned it out a few weeks ago and after putting it back together it started to leak, whine, and the fluid was foaming.

Finally got around to taking it back apart and found out that the o-ring between the reservoir and pump ripped. Quick trip to O'reilly's and now no more whine! :D

Ha mine did the same thing! I did replace the pump anyway though since it was whining even before I replaced that o-ring.

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure what fixed the original whine I had before I messed with it.

All I did was clean out what little gunk there was in the screen and replace the o-ring. Now it's magically quiet :notsure:

Oh, and flush the fluid. I'm thinking somebody replaced it with power steering fluid in the past. Or the ATF was burnt, because it was very dark and stunk...
