what should i do

i have a 1998 tacoma and have been searching for a nice lift. i have heard alot of good things abour ome lifts and wondering what yall think about it? or any others suggestions about what may be a good lift. i wheel every once in awhile and especially during hunting season. i want a good suspension feel and a aggressive look. and any pics of a ome lift would be great thanks. also what are yalls take on body lifts and spacer lifts?

im lookin to spend 600-800. i will be using it for mainly on the road but i also wheel some. and i will go off road alot during hunting season also. ive looked into coilover but i dont think i wheel hard enough for that. but i like the ome lift because it allows me to replace 11 year old shocks and springs.

GO with the OME lift you posted the link on. Get 881's for coils unless you have a heavy front bumper and winch then go with 882's...

 

i saw some where that the shocks may have to replaced in about 5 years is that true? im sure that for people who wheel real hard

 

OME gear does tend to wear out faster than some of the other gear out there does. '
Like Bilstein for example. They believe in their shock so much, they offer a life time warranty on them.
If you still have the stock susupension, I would highly recommend replacing both the shock and coil up front. With your budget amount, I would probably stick with the OME stuff also. They do only offer a limited two year warranty. .

If you want to save a little bit for the , we do offer a life time warranty on the gear, and I know the shocks will last longer than 5 years under normal use. (not abused).

well im just looking for something that is not going to be needing replacement for a long time would rather spen a little more at the beginning than alot more down the road. i didnt know that they only had a 2 year warranty on ome shocks.

well even when i get a lift im sure i wont abuse the suspension more than i do now i love my truck to much to hurt it.
its just a hard decision to make.

I have full OME. It's absolutely awesome, recommended for anyone. I have 881s and an ARB bull bar, so you don't need 882s. The 881 coils will work just as well.

 

The 882s can be a bit stiff if you don't have the right amount of weight on them. ToyTec has taken a different industry standard on these springs. With our own research, we have determined that the 883 will work better for more of a medium coil and the 882's for more of a heavy spring.

The spring rate is the same from 881 to 882, just a longer coil with more coils on it. 883's jump up in spring rate, but keep the exact coil height of the 881s.

So, depending how much that westin brushguard weighs, you might be just fine with the 881s.

 

I'm very excited that is working out for you, but normally, the bull bar usually requires a heavier spring to handle the weight appropriately.

 

do you have any pics with the lift before/after? also why did you choose the ome insted of a kit like the toytec ultimate kit? just trying to hear a few things that might help me make my decision

 

I was told by 4x4connection that 880s would be too soft and 881s would work perfectly. ARB also said the same thing. I have the stiff nitrocharger shocks, though. I also do not have a winch, so the bar itself is heavy, but not overly heavy.

I bought the truck with a shitty rough country lift kit (spacers, rear shocks, extended shackles) on the stock suspension, which SUCKED. I have always wanted a Tacoma with an ARB bar, so I just chose OME in the front to handle that weight.

The rear suspension came as a result of breaking a rear leafs due to repeated mulch and compost loads, so I decided to beef it up. I needed new springs and shocks anyways, so I just decided to complete the OME suspension.

 

look on for a 6 inch fabtech or pro comp unless you like the questions "is that thing lifted?"

 

i have been looking at bilstein 5100s and i read that you can adjust them to get 1-2.5 inches of lift. does that just have a perch that compreses the spring to give the lift? if someone could explain this to me it would be great and maybe some pics also.
