Looking to have my Taco wrapped the minute i get it. Anyone Had the front end completely done? Headlights and hood included?
I have had one of my LEXUS IS's done a while back and the film shrunk over time. They used 3M but I was told after a few years and me complaining about it the product must have been "defective"...
My other IS has lasted 10 years plus and still looking good.

Front ends on vehicles are getting so complicated now i'm concerned about fitment and creases..

PPF has come a long way in the past 10 years. I've had 3M installed on most of my cars until recent years.
Ask you local installer if they offer Avery nano fusion, which I believe is the best out there currently.
Most guys on this forum do not like paint protection and often refer to it as "saran wrap"
According to xpel.com there is a pattern made for 16 TRD sport so fitment should not be an issue.
If you're a member of clublexus forum, there are more threads on PPF.
    Good luck.

Well i'm a fan of the "saran wrap" saved me a lot of paint chip grief in the past. Unfortunately my 2014 IS didn't get completely wrapped as I thought they would. Bumper's all chipped of course...:mad:
Thanks for info. Local place called Shadow tint guarantees 8 years on 3M product. 3 levels of instal. They'll pretty much wrap the whole thing if I want.. lol
I thinks i'll get the front windows tinted to match rear ones at the same time..

I currently have 3M ventureshield on my Super white Tacoma installed in late 2013 which is showing signs of yellowing but no signs of shrinking.
My 2014 white Accord and 2015 white TLX both have nano shield, no yellowing.
I see you have a black taco and 3M will look awesome.
I too am a fan of the saran wrap.

If any yellowing does occur I'm sure it'll be barely noticeable on black.
    Thanks again for your insight.

I would also recommend you look up Xpel Ultimate...it does some great "self-healing" magic. Have it on my dark grey BRZ and I can barely tell it is there, plus is doesn't have swirls.

I don't precisely remember, and it was for a Subaru BRZ. I had a lot of it put on (whole front bumper/~12in of hood/front of fenders/~8in on doors/rocker panels all around, etc). I think it was between $650 and 800ish.

So i checked with the company thats gonna do my truck. They used to use expel but now use 3M Pro series film. I was quoted for this "The Standard Package costs $699 and covers 18” on the hood, partial fenders, mirrors, and the front bumper." After sending them a pic of the front of the truck they had to add another 100$ for the painted grille surround.

What about getting the Toyota film applied by the factory when they are building the vehicle? How is the quality of the stuff Toyota uses?

Was wondering the same. I was going to ask them when I get the truck done if dealers come to them. I had my LEXUS done from factory and the dealer was applying it. Would like to know if its comparable quality.. Doubt it.

I would trust the factory over the dealer

Raptor 4" oval rails, OEM door sill protectors, totally debadged, OEM mud guards, OEM bed mat, OEM S/S tail pipe extension, BDT tailgate letters, Weather Tech sun screen.
My came as an instlled option from the distributor (Southeastern Toyota (?)-Jacksonville, FL). They did a good job-IMO-but I would have preferred a private vendor to do the installation. My 12' Tundra came with the distributor added spray-in liner which was probably not as good as Rhino or some of the others but it held up well for the 3 1/2 years I owned the truck.

well the oem paint protection film is not installed at the factory but at the regional distribution center. unfortunately for Kansas city region, they had issues with the installer and had to fire them. reason is sloppy work on the installs. I can attest to that since Toyota has to redo the oem install on ours. still waiting for a resolution (re-install date is up in the air since they are still waiting for parts of the package to arrive at the dealer) but happy they will be re-doing the film again.
