I like both open sights and red dot scopes ect... when I was in afghan I had an acog on my M4 and it was pretty sweet. Crystal clear and accurate. I like the AR but I'm more of a long range bolt gun guy myself. I need to knock the dust off my remmy 700 308. I haven't shot it in probably 6 months lol

Not sure how long of a range you have access to, but I have access to a 600 yd range. Come on up if you want.

Well, ended up with a 6721 instead. Substantially similar, this has a 1/9 heavy bbl. $780 which I think is as good as you can do on a Colt w/ 4 mags. Did the break in and sights zeroed. Need to beg the range guy to qualify me on it tomorrow. Got a Hogue grip and a Savvy Sniper sling coming (the guy that runs the sling shop and builds them is a cop in my county, I'll get that bad boy hand delivered).

I've got a 300 yard zero on my rifle as of right now. I used to have a spot where I could shoot to 800 but I no longer work for the guy who owns it and I haven't talked to him in over a year. I might have to go with you one day depending on work and weather. Looks like a really nice place to shoot!!

Why don't we all get a group together and go to a range not to far from each other for a day and blast some rounds

I'm down for a range day. I've been wanting to go to cardinal and shoot trap. Maybe we can get a little TW competition started

It's got a 20 inch barrel. One thing I really wish I would have gotten is a 20 inch threaded barrel. My buddy has the exact same rifle only his is threaded with a muzzle brake. Zero recoil. I've thought about sending it somewhere and having it threaded but I just haven't gotten around to it.

Makes sense. I'm thinking about picking up a 20" barrel for my AR. It has a 16" and is spot on at 500 yards, but the round starts to tumble. Thinking the 20" barrel should get me an extra 150 - 200 yards.

Can't go wrong with a 20 inch barrel. It will help with accuracy and you will get a faster bullet speed compared to your 16 inch. What grain bullets do you shoot? Maybe look for a 1:7 twist and shoot some heavier grain bullets. Should keep the tumble away for an extra 100 200 yards.
