Tire Rubbing

    I bought an '06 Tacom about a month ago. When I bought it, it had a set of aftermarket wheels and tires on it. They are 265/75/R16's, which I guess is wider than stock? Iniitally only the left front tire would rub.

    Long story short, the inner fender liner on the left front tire was damaged, and we figured that that was causing the rubbing. The dealer replaced the liner, and did a 4-wheel alignment. Now the rubbing is even worse! Oh, and I should mention that the right side rubs now too.

    How do I fix this? I know a lift, or spacers would probably do it. So would switching back to the stock tire sizes. Spacers I might do, depending on the cost. I want to keep the wheels and tires though, so going back to stock is not much of an option. Are there any adjustments that can be made?

    Cutting the fender liner is what most do. If you don't want to do that go to a smaller tire

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    The tire size you are running is only 1" taller than stock, and the same width. Im betting its the wheel back space causing the rubb. Maybe a small lift on the front, dropping down to a 265/70/16, or a swap to different wheels that match the OEM's in back spacing..

    yeah its 5.5".

    I have a slight rub with my 265/75's but it only does it when I cut it all the way to the right and it is so slight I am not going to bother cutting anything. I have the DC1 wheels and their bs is 4.5 I think, so that is my problem, but it dosent bother me.
    If it is bad on yours, trim a little or going to a diff tire/wheel, or take my route and do nothing and live with it.

    Now I know why the fender liner was cut up. The rubbing is pretty bad on the left side, and occasionally it will rub on the right. Unfortunately, not doing anything is not an option. It drives me crazy when my vheicles make noise when they are not supposed to. It looks like a slight lift might be in order.

    Does anyone have any recomendations on a 1"-2" lift kit?

    Are the 5100's a straight bolt in swap? If not, what is involved in installing them?

    If 265/75/r16's will fit with stock wheels, this leads me to believe that the back spacing on my wheels is not stock. Is there anyone that makes spacers for the wheels that would put the back spacing to where it needs to be?

    You need a spring compressor to install the factory spring onto the 5100's, but then its a straight bolt in.

    Does the ride quality change with the 5100's? I noticed they are listed as race parts. Do they provide more wheel travel too?
