Polyurethane Radiator Support Mounts (Cab Also)

Yeah those bushings are clearly two different sizes, I will post a pic later but my Taco specific ones are equal height. So, the question is if one of those unequal height ones is the same as the OE replacement one.

 

the stock ones are also diff sizes

 

Edit - look at the OP's #3 post on page 1. He bought the whole kit a week after the universal bushings and you can see in his picture of the kit that the Taco specific core support bushings clearly do not have the drastic size difference in upper and lower bushings.



I mean this with humor.... But are they ? Or is it just that the top one crushes down so bad ?

BTW everyone I do not mean to come across argumentative I just want to make sure that someone once and for all actually checks OE specs vs these universal kits to ensure what the correct measurement and fit is. Nothing against the OP but his truck is nothing to judge this off of because his core wall was so blown out and even cracked from jumping his truck. Just want to make sure that everyone understands you very easily tweak your cab if the parts are not correct. Tweaking the cab puts stress on things, misalignment body panels etc.

 

not at all, input is welcome. it is hard to tell, since the OE ones are so fubar but the size diff isnt that dramatic, they went in with about as much force and finagling as it took to get the old ones out. I checked and my panel alignment seems the same after install (I did install mine the right way up and with washers as I don't have after market bumper so don't need the extra clearance). Also, I don't wheel nearly as hard as Roberto and look at mine. I don't have all the tearing of the metal core that he does, but my bushings are still fawked. I am optimistic about these universal ones, but if in a few months I don't like what I see I can change them out, they're not that expensive. happy so far

 

Jason, Appreciate the dialog. My plan is to get the Tacoma body bushing kit in a few months and compare with the universal kit I already have installed.

Just for my own edification.

This thread is interesting in that it chronicles a lot of different people's experiences with trucks of various ages.

And what was works for one person with their truck doesn't necessarily work for another.

For example I had to hammer out my driver's side radiator bolt. I could not get it to come free. My experience was seconded by someone else in this thread. I think it was @Incognito

I'm thinking that my core support has been deformed over time.

I also noted the same variance in effort when installing just described by @teamhypoxia

There are certainly issues with the universal kit most of what you already pointed out. I had significant issues with the universal kit and bigger bushing on the bottom. No matter how tight I made the joint that big washer would contact the frame making a knocking noise.

I then flipped it so the bigger bushing was on top but I ditched the big washer.

When I did this it tightened up the front end significantly so much so that I never forget it every time I Drive my truck. I'm still very impressed with how snug the front end is.

I very much feel the same way that most people should probably get the whole kit body and radiator support bushings and just use that.

I also owe you an apology for the personal insult I lobbed your way in another thread. I am sorry for that. I will attempt to behave better.

definitely saw a difference between driver and passenger side, had to struggle more on the driver side and that one is a little worse for wear as well. haven't noticed any knocking yet but its only been a day. seems nice and tight so far

8.4109G contains the radiator support bushings and cab mounts? This is the tacoma specific kit?

Edit: it's Tacoma specific, and contains cab and radiator bushings?

No worries amigo, same here...one serious draw back to the ol' intraweb you can't can't see people's faces, expressions, hear their tone ...all you see is text and it is really easy to get into keyboard hero arguments

 

My point of getting these and getting rid of the old ones is prior to even offroading as heavy as I do now, is that I consostently noticed the bushings specifically on the drivers side were always popping out of their grooved dimple and I always had to loosen them to pop them back in. The first time I noticed this was for no reason in particular. I wonder if the factory didn't cinch them down tight enough or not, but regardless, after the bushing replacement they have never shifted, or moved again.

This is exactly the point I have been trying to drive home to many people as to why not to do dual battery setups in the front, especially when you wheel. Some people seem to believe that the stock stuff is built strong enough to support what gets installed into it though. So oh well, I'll let them have their journey.

Rob, we've gone round and round with this lol. Most people don't mash their trucks like you do. The standard slow crawling off roader is fine with a dual battery set up and having fun offroad. Its the fast stuff that's gonna cause to much strain on it all. Everyday driving and slow trips offroad and you'll be fine.

 

I'm playing it safe. My group 31 is going in my bed this weekend, mounted up in a Pelfreybuilt cage.

 

Well, I plan on hauling ass in my truck, so dual batteries in the bed for me. I'm just arguing with Rob a out telling everyone their truck is gonna collapse if they run dual batteries in the engine bay. (Which people have been doing for a while and have been just fine)
