So it appears Toyota did not change out the needle bearing in the 2016s. I suffered with the front differential vibes on my 2007 after a 1.5" coil lift. I have seen only a couple of complaints so far about it in the 2016s so I'm curious how many are having it after a lift?

If you are unsure if you have it try this: The vibrations are normally most prevalent between 30 to 40 mph. So while driving that speed shift into 4hi. If you feel a noticeable smoothing out of the truck, you have the dreaded front differential vibe. Again this is normally only noticeable after a lift and is hit or miss.

I have seen tons of lifted trucks on this site. But there is only one response so far of guys that lifted. Come on guys let's post up some answers to this poll so others who want to lift can know their odds of having front differential vibes.

In general it is too early for needle bearing vibrations to show up on lifted trucks. This same poll taken when many lifted trucks have 20-30k miles would show a stronger fraction with vibrations.

Mine showed up as soon as I lifted my 2007. Granted it did have 70k miles on it when the lift was installed.

Mine showed up about 85k miles after I lifted my 2006. @bark beetle had them show up on his 2013 after only a few thousand miles.

Seems like this will be exactly like Gen 2. Some have it some don't. It's just disappointing that this is one part of the "all new" Tacoma, that is "all shit".

So this happened to me ..... I have 2015 DCOR that I had a 3 inch lift from the dealer done when i bought it brand new.
Bought it in October 2014, started getting a vibration about a month ago, but it WENT AWAY when I put it into 4high.
Took it to the dealer, they told me that Toyota recently put out a memo to the service teams about upgrading the needle bearing when they do lifts... said that it was covered and 3 hours of shop time later it was fixed.
that was 3 weeks ago and still vibration free~!

I had 100 miles on the truck. Raised the front up a touch. Womp womp womp vibe between 30-40mph.

Took out the lift. It's still there but about 90% better.

can you explain the vibration you had? Mine has a vibration after I leveled it. Around 35-40mph, I get a cyclic whomp, whomp, whomp through the pedals.

I had the exact same thing. Truck literally had 97 miles on it. Womp womp womp womp....put it in 4H and it smoothed right out. Pretty fucked up for a brand new truck.

I only get it in 1 section of my daily drive. The bushing is pretty cheap, so when I change gear oil, I'll change the bushing.

Aw man. I just put my bilstein 5100's on last weekend and immediately noticed this pulsating between 23-28mph. Goes away when I put it in 4WD.

Will it cause any damage if I don't do anything about it or get worse?

Edit: Found this TSB for 2004-2015 Tacoma's. I'm going to take my truck to the dealership when I have time and see what they can do for my 2016.

the bushing will just wear out faster, whoever did the lift should fix it for you.
The guy at the dealership told me that the part is cheap but takes about 3 hours of shop time to install it

I did the install myself and have done strut jobs numerous times. From my understanding its the drivers side needle bearing, which I would have had no effect on while changing struts.

You change the angle of the CV shaft putting more load on the needle bearing. I'm going to change mine next oil change along with changing gear oil on both ends.
