Just had my hood fixed at the local dealership. It appears that there is a Service Bulletin that addresses the hood vibrating issue and can be resolved easily at the body shop. I haven't put many miles on mine yet, but I will post photos of the repair tomorrow and update if the problem reappears in the future.

ps. It also appears that there is a Service Bulletin addressing the howl that many are experiencing. FYI

As I had my truck in for the hood vibration and the howl noise issue, the service mgr knew exactly the noise I was talking about, even before I finished describing it. He stated that the Toyota Field Tech had done an identical repair the day prior, and that there was a service bulletin describing the repair. My invoice states, after the howl complaint, 'Toyota Field Tech adjusted doors per Service Bulletin'. Now the howl appears to be gone. Unfortunately, neither specific Service Bulletin # was listed on my invoice.

No, sorry. Mxwrench since 1997 though. Was a Factory MX/SX team mechanic for 10 years back in the day when I took that handle. Just kinda stuck.

At dealer now to finally purchase mine. Looked under the hood and at least half of the spots are separated. I'll be sure to let them know about it.

Waiting for the salesman to go for a quick shakedown on the road. Wish me luck that they dont try to pull some shit out of their asses with the deal.

I wouldn't let this issue deter you from buying it. Warranty will fix it. I just saw a buddy today and he showed up in his new 16 that i didn't know he had, same exact problem as mine. He didn't notice anything but I showed him the problem which is a lot less then mine but still there.

Oh I didn't. Just got it home safe and sound. I brought it to their attention, and they said, no big deal the warranty will take care of it. Got it to 70 on the test drive, no vibrations.

I dropped the truck off at the dealer today. The regional Toyota guy was there to see the hood situation. Said they were aware of the problem although mine was the first complaint in the area. They are having me bring it back so they can take it to an auto body shop.

Update on my rattling hood: I brought the hood adhesive problem to the attention of the dealer this morning. The service advisor called whoever she calls at Toyota. They are shipping out a new hood. Apparently cheaper than fixing the adhesive. Hopefully the new one has better glue!

The dealer wasn't sure if it'll be painted or not.

And the dealer said that mine is the first problem it has had, but that Toyota is well-aware of the problem. I suspect there will be more as they return for the first service.

Was this a mistake on Toyota's part? How could a new hood be cheaper than squirting some adhesive in there? Unless the hood repairs are not working. Has there been any reports of hood repair failures? I have and appointment at a body shop to have mine fixed.

Apparently. I did think about the cost though. Just a guess, but I'd bet it is cheaper to ship a new hood than to pay a body guy for a few hours of disassembly and reassembly. I don't think it's a matter of just squirting in new adhesive. I'm no body guy, but if I were doing the job, I'd remove the old adhesive first as anything that relies on that bubblegum will end up failing again.

Which dealer? I am trying to get my dealer to replace my hood too and would like to reference another one who was willing to do it also.
