Good morning and happy Friday! 11 this morning here, supposed to warm up again on Sunday to 40. Without any wind it isn't so bad. Yesterday was windy and it felt brutal.

Right now, there are more earthquakes in Oklahoma then California. I have lived through 2 big ones here in the last 55 years. 72 and 94. Once every 22 years...uh oh

Fracking, and we will see more of them I am afraid. Being on a ship you feel earthquakes even when people on land don't. I didn't mind the gentle rocking at night to help put you to sleep in San Diego :) Hurricanes on the East coast, tornadoes in the midwest. Mother nature can be a rough one no matter where you live.

Fact: Largest fault line in America is in the mid-south, the New Madrid fault line. Not San Andreas. I believe the last time that fault line created a devastating earthquake was in the 1800s and it was so strong, it caused the Mississippi River to flow backward for weeks. Only a matter of time until it happens again. Memphis, St Louis, New Orleans and even as far north as Chicago... could all be devastated.

Yep it even could affect where I live. It is the largest fault line in CONUS. I think Rob has the honor of being where the largest or most fault lines (can't remember which) in Alaska and the Pacific.

Fickle woman she is ... and if she wants you, she'll get you. No need fretting about it. ;)

Yep, 7 years at Scott ... listened to the bottles rattling in the refrigerator many times.

Sounds right ... first time I felt a decent size quake here was during a staff meeting shortly after we arrived; offices/conference room are part of the freight warehouse building ... my first thought was someone hit the building with a 60K loader.

Looks like I won't be going into the office much next week. My oldest son is 28, when he was 20 and in his second year of college found out he has OCD, obsessive compulsive disorder. He is in the top 5% for severity and at the time he went to 3 months of inpatient treatment at one of only a couple of places in the US for treatment. And it helped a lot.

He has done very well despite his OCD. Started with Apple computer last year and advanced to level 2 tech. support in only 6 months. Works out of his house which helps. Couple of months ago he married his girlfriend finally, they have been together since they were 17. Between the wedding and everything else including his brother the wheels fell off the wagon a couple of weeks ago. Been working this week to get him back in treatment again and finalized everything this afternoon. Apple has been great and put him on short term then will switch him to long term disablility. If all goes well he can keep his job when he gets out of treatment.

Sunday evening I'm dropping the dog off at doggie hotel for a few days and driving him the 4.5 hours to Wi. for 2 months inpatient treatment again. Intake process takes a few days and he wants me to take him. His OCD makes any type of travel difficult so we are waiting until dark to leave. Proud of him he has overcome a lot. After this year and my youngest sons battle with cancer I'm wore out to be honest. Things could always be worse and likely everything will turn out well all the way around and hope they do. And am thankful for how they have so far, I don't take anything for granted. But I'll be glad when life returns to normal whatever that is.

Thoughts and prayers to you and your family Mike. My son is a former Marine who served 2 tours in Helmand Province in Afghanistan. His last tour was the worse for him both physically and mentally. He suffered the lost of his two closest buddies as well as suffering the physical effects of an IED. He had a very tough time of it when he returned back to the States, I won't go into details but I went to bed every night expecting "the call" from his wife. It was the most stressful time of my entire life.He was medically retired from the Marines a few years back and has since improved. The physical scars still remain but I think he has come to terms, as best anyone can, with the emotional issues. There is always hope for a better day, things will get better and you will find the strength to push on. Lean a little on friends and family when you have to but always remember that you are not alone.

Good Morning everyone, it's about 28 degrees and windy this morning in sunny Southern Maryland. I'd bet this is the coldest it's been this season. Y'all have a great day and stay safe.

    Morning, All !

Cold Iron... wow, just read your post from last evening and I'm very sorry you have had so much weight on your shoulders in the recent past and yet more to come. Having been through the loss of a child, I have faced some very dark days too. Life isn't always fair but when faced with challenges, I try to look at it this way: The challenge is there and not going to go away and that sucks. But I won't let it define my life. How I deal with the challenge will be what goes into defining my life.

Talking thru things is often a great help. Keep using us for support. At our ages, there's not much that one or more of us haven't been thru so maybe we can even offer up advice at times.

Good morning everyone, 9 here this morning but at least it is above zero!

Thank you everyone for the advice and well wishes, it is greatly appreciated. I hate that some of you have been through what you have also. We all have been around the block a few times and the nature of life declares that we experience a lot that we never planned on I guess. Jeff can't imagine what you went through with your son, and your right remembering that I'm not alone does help, a lot. Cam you have experienced what I think most people would call their greatest fear, that is hard to even imagine. You hit the nail on the head once again, it will not define me no matter how things turn out. I think one of the hardest things for me is that my wife left 6 years ago and has had very little involvement with any of us. I finished raising the boys and kept the house although it cost me pretty much everything financially. Best part is she only got 24% of my Navy pension when she thought she was going to get 50% :) But most of all after 25 years of having someone to talk to find myself feeling like I am totally alone at times. But in reality I am not. Thank you all.

Photography challenge on here this week is moving water. At these temps I'm thinking a flushing toilet bowl shot is about all I got. Marty hope all goes well at the shelter opening! And hope everyone has a great weekend.

Nine degrees ? Okay, that will prompt for the Corny Joke Of The Day.

What do Eskimos like to eat for dinner ? Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrritos !
