Hi everyone. I am close to getting my first Tacoma, but inventory is still a little slim picking. So in the mean time I have been lurking here. I'd love to see how you carry your toys: skis, mountain bikes, motorcycles, etc. I do a lot of skiing and biking and was thinking I'd just toss the gear in the box and head out. That said, there must be tons of ways to load up the truck for adventure. Show us yours!!

I would show you my TracRac that I use to carry my kayaks and fishing rods but Thule hasn't released bed clamps for 2016s yet  Rocking the $50 bed extender from harbor freight for the time being. Not much to see there.

Hope that Thule releases them soon. I forgot about my fishing gear!

I'm a plumber. Toilet bolts work to mount anything you want in the bed tracks! I just sent my truck over to the mainland with some skis and a snowboard. Tossed them right in the back.

I would love to see some motorcycles (Supersports specifically) in the short beds. I was thinking of buying the AMP Research Motoxtender bed extender once i finally get my truck delivered, but I have seen some concern of tailgate strength. Would love to see how people have done it so far with the third gen!

Really? (he says as he strolls to garage to check leftover plumbing parts bin)

Brass would be an excellent application there.......... hmmmm.

    Yeah man,

In my 08 I built a fishing rod holder out of aluminum square stock, angle stock, and pipe. Used 4 sets of toilet bolts and wingnuts to fasten it. Could pop it in and out in a minute.

I'm really psyched on how I can carry my bikes now. Still plenty of room in the bed.

It's the Body Armor Sport Rack... it's not made for the 2016's; So it took some modification to fit. I can fit 2 bikes and paddleboards on it, or 4 bikes... maybe even 5.

    Thanks!

Did it take a lot of modification? I'd guess a 2016 compatible version would be coming eventually, and since I still don't have a Taco yet... I'm not as worried.

Their site says it fits all cab and box configurations.... and I can sorta see how, but I plan to do some photoshop to see how it would look on a ACLB, which is what I will be getting... eventually.

UPTATE: Well, I don't know who owns this truck, so if it's yours and you don't want this photo up, lemme know, but I did a very very bad photoshop job to put NaluTaco's Body Armor Sport Rack on a ACLB... just to get an idea of how it would look. Yeah, I know, I have the angles wrong on the photoshop.... it's just a rough chop (Affinity Photo actually, not PhotoShop) to get a rough idea of how it would look.

You have some mad photoshop skills :). I had to draw some lines on a picture in powerpoint haha. It was a bit of a risk to pay for shipping all the way to Hawaii... but it fits and does the job well. BTW the guys at BodyArmor were no help at all. I emailed them Jun-Oct to see if the rack would fit the 2016. I finally called them and they replied that "they were busy working on other truck's designs... and I'd probably have to cut a hole in the bed (which I didn't). Then when I got it, 4 of the bolts were wrong size... so I had to run to the hardware store at 7 in the evening to get new bolts to finish the install. The quality of the rack is GREAT tho! BTW, I got it from CARiD... they went out of their way to contact me and adjust the price to offset the shipping cost $220.

You can't beat TRANSITION. I was a hardcore Cannondale guy for decades, but made the switch once I met the crew in Bellingham and saw what they are all about. The Scout is the perfect all mountain bike for me. Patrol is sweet too, with a bit more travel. I was so impressed I started selling them... 808bike.com. The rack holds the bikes just a good as a tailgate pad, but I can still load the bed.

I like having the tailgate closed. Long box works well with it slightly pulled over.
