My A340E was drained and filled at 60k, everything is still working fine at 120k miles and I'm now doing a service. I have the ATP B-211 filter kit, confirmed correct for this unit. The service manual CLEARLY shows the strainer needs 5 gaskets but I got only 3. The missing gaskets are around 2 of the mounting bolt holes. Are these gaskets necessary? The 3 larger holes for fluid transfer have the cork gaskets there, and all the pics I can find do not show the other 2 gaskets around the mounting holes.
Also there's no drain plug washer as indicated in the photos for this kit. Can I re-use the drain plug washer? Now considering that I may have an incomplete kit.

Here's a pic from the service manual:
    5 new gaskets for strainer.jpg

    Here's the filter I got:A340E filter 1.jpg

And here are snippets from the internet showing this filter kit:

Pretty sure my carrier bearing is toast. Getting alot of rattling noise and vibration right from where its at. Doesn't sound good at all.I have a 4 hour drive home, will I make it?

I crawled under at and there is a fair amount of play in it.

You put the drive train in neutral and double check it's not the u joints? Carriers do go bad but they usually don't rattle to much. And there is typically a fair amount of play in them. Without seeing it can't really say how far I would drive it but if it just started I would probably drive it myself.

How do I check the u joints? I thought it may be that as well but idk.

I'll post a video of the play in the carrier here in a bit.

Put the ebrake on and put the tranny in neutral. If you twist the drive shaft back and forth, you shouldn't get much if any play. If you get any clunking try to figure out where it is coming from. Ujoint a have a tendency to make weird vibes and intermittent noises.

My carrier bearing was bad for 6 months. That part rarely keeps you from your destination. It just gets louder.

You do know it is supposed to have flex around the bearing?

Yesterday, I put got some buddies from work to help put the bed back on, then I got new tires.

    Here are the new ones:

And to get an idea of how badly I needed new ones, here's a shot of the old ones:

Check out my thread on this, I just did this and faced some confusion with finding the proper filter kit.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/psa-the-correct-a-t-filter-kit-for-your-tacoma.405898/

Make sure your tranny is not a 30-40le model. It's interchangeable with the A340E but has a different filter.

But what truck is this for? Shouldn't you be asking in the 2nd Gen forum?

@capetaco12 I put the truck in neutral, didn't have ebrake on but was down hill against a curb, and twist the drive shaft, no play any any u joints.

The carrier bearing didn't really have as much play as I thought but I'm not sure, here is the vid.
