Natural gas heat in mine. Just have to turn the thermostat on. I think the heater is a little small for the size cuz it takes a couple hours to warm it up but it'll get it into the 70's. The insulated doors help!

I was thinking on either cutting in house AC/heating to it and adding some vents, or just getting one of those ceiling/wall units for the summer/winter extremes.

 

Eh... It's nice to control it separately. I don't use the heat out there all that often whereas the heat in the house is always on. Plus unless you have zones and another thermostat it may be too hot, not hot enough, too cold or not cold enough depending on how close the vent is to the furnace. Without the heater the garage stays about 20* warmer than outside. I don't know how summer will be yet and there is no AC in there...

You'll have to come check out the new house and pup sometime! not that I have ever gone to see yours though...

 

True, it would most likely get the air almost right off the bat. I was thinking more towards a separate unit so I can control it how I want to and not have to cut in to the house system. Zoning is probably a no go for me, zero attic space, so the Furnace unit is in the garage and the upstairs ducting is popping out of the floor. Zoning would mean cutting apart walls for zone systems lol. My Dad owns an HVAC company in Orange County lol, I've already gone in to it with him

 

Sounds like your furnace is setup a hell of a lot like mine.

 

Well, we bought the house a year ago, previous owner was renting it out for about 20 years, just about every appliance is in barely working condition, the furnace and condensor unit need to get replaced if I want to have any more airflow lol.

 

Yeah, so, I only have a teeny tiny heater. Barely warms up the air in front of it when it gets into the 40's. Lol. That's all I've got to contribute. Lol.

 

Hey man, you and me both! My desk/man cave corner with computer and TV just has a little space heater I put under it to keep my legs warm and i just wear a sweater lol. My dreams of a heated garage get sidetracked by truck mods and wife related housing mods lol

 

Example, its 40 degrees outside, but that ugly chandelier in the dining room we never use needs to get replaced by a ceiling fan. Now. Do it.

Honestly I just lucked out with the house. We were looking for a good house out in the country and the one that fit the bill just happened to have a heated garage and a hot tub! haha

 

I wanted a house like that, but didn't want an hour commute lol, so we settled for the current house and just need to upgrade it lol it lol. Heated garage is something that'll happen when I finally get around to researching ceiling units and see if It's up to code to make the furnace alcove a room by itself. I dont see why not, as long as its got the proper ventilation, but California codes are always wonky as fuck.


Anyhoo, my new clutch came in! Found a shop nearby that will do it for $500, still need to call back and see if they will do headers while theyre down there.

 

I just completely close the garage, vehicle work permitting. Open the door the the garage, from the house, then turn up the heat or lower the a/c. Efficient....maybe not so much. Does it work. Yup.

 

So pulled down a head to inspect. It is a win. One from my original engine.

I used to run Royal Purple in it regularly. The staining from the oil is the tarnished color. That is what it does.

Swapped over the cam gears. Just needs the valve springs swapped next week, and a little prep. It'll be good to go.
