It's funny, no matter what the vehicle - there's always serious chest thumping over hood scoops.

Scoop not functional, me no want. Me Real Man. Wouldn't you be more of a Real Man driving a full size truck? I don't think anyone ever sees a midsize truck and says "No hood scoop. That guy ain't no poseur. I bet he rustles cattle with that thing and tows 34 foot motor homes."

    The scoop looks cool.

Scoop can be made "functional" in about 5 minutes if that made someone feel better about it.

There aren't a lot of items out for the 2016 yet, I would think in the new year will change that and you will see a lot of aftermarket parts including Sport Hood.

the hood scoop is abominable, a total fucking joke on several levels

however, if you want an access cab with 6' bed and manual transmission, you might indulge some minor idiocy

someone needs to check the fit for TRD sport vs SR5.
Because many that did get a TRD sport don't actually want the hood lol. So if the colors match and its a straight swap I'm sure you could find someone.

ARB just announced they are in their final stages of testing for the BP51 suspension, lockers, and front winch bar.
New year and it should be available.

I realize the scoop is nothing more then a ornament, but it's still ( in my opinion ) a feature that I think tuffens the look of the truck up. Whats the difference in buying Chrome or blacked out rims? Or changing the grill? Nonfunctional, yes but it improves the appearance.

Thats kinda what I was hoping for by starting this thread. As for the fit I was wondering if everything would line back up perfectly and keep the correct body gaps

heck if we all liked the same thing we would all drive same thing and how boring. Some like it some hate it to each his own. I wanted the OR for crawl control but I didn't want to wait 4 months for the one I want so I took a sport I found and I am happy. Hood scoop to me can stay or go don't care don't have preference either way. I like both looks. Poster I am sure you will be able to get one soon or someone will come along maybe near you with same color and swap

I'm glad to see the age old 2nd gen debate lives on.

They are good for 2 things:
    1 increasing drag.

My two cents worth, I have already owned two sports. I was considering an off-road this time so I test drove One before i ended up buying my 3rd sport. It seemed like there was an awful lot of flat hood out in front of me when I test drove the off-road. Even My Wife said the same thing after we test drove it..... She said go get your sport. You got to love wife's approval

Have had both Sport and Off Road in 2nd gen flavor, like the skewp, but like the locker better.

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this but a non-functional hood scoop on a truck is about as useful as tits on a bull.

If your going to say that, then the Road Runner's wing was completely useless (yes useless, but we all still wanted it), the Trans-am's shaker was useless (it WAS connected to the air cleaner, still not needed) The gills on the 63 Corvette, completely useless, ( that was a bad ASS car though, wasn't it!!!). I can go on and on. And yes, many hood scoops were functional back in the days of flair (until it snowed), The point is, Don't look at it as a scoop! look at it as styling lines on the body, and a nice way to break up an otherwise very flat and boring hood!

Touché. I agree it does break up a somewhat boring hood. I don't like the fact of seeing it while driving though. I haven't drove a 16' yet but have multiple 2nd gens and did find it distracting. Not that you wouldn't get used to it over time. I'm shorter so I think it would bother me less than someone a bit taller. But I agree it does give a more aggressive look. Although I'm with the others if you gonna have it on why not just make it functional. Surprised Toyota didn't catch on from all the talk with the second gens. Hell even the scoop on my Celica was functional
